Following some fine recent wins, the Rapids go into this home fixture against the Red Bulls flying high. Can they continue to close in on the top three by picking up a third straight win?
The visitors go to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park without a win in two, so they’ll be looking to bounce back. Read on for our Colorado Rapids vs New York Red Bulls predictions.
Colorado Rapids vs New York Red Bulls prediction
For the Colorado Rapids vs New York Red Bulls game prediction, we believe the final score will be a 2-2 tie based on our analysis.
We know that the Rapids are in fine form and they can certainly do plenty of damage at home, but so can the Red Bulls, even on their travels, while they’re also tricky to beat. We may see goals here, but don’t be too surprised if there’s little between the pair on the scoreboard.

Colorado Rapids vs New York Red Bulls head-to-head statistics
The Rapids have won each of the last two renewals of this fixture, winning what was a nine-goal thriller when the teams last met back in 2022.
Prior to their victory in 2019, though, the Red Bulls had won two renewals on the spin, meaning that each side has won two of the last four meetings.
Colorado Rapids vs New York Red Bulls preview
This game will be played on 13/07/2024 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Kick off will be at 7:30 PM local time.
The Rapids secured another big win last time out, displaying yet more offensive power on home soil, as Kevin Cabral kicked things off with an early goal, which set the tone for a destructive and dominant display.
We’ve now seen Saturday’s hosts win five of their last six games overall, winning each of their last four at home. The Rapids have also gone six games without tasting defeat on home soil, five of which they’ve won.
Right now, all is well for Chris Armas’ men, who are scoring lots of goals and picking up lots of positive results.
The visitors are also in good shape, let’s be honest. OK, the Red Bulls failed to win (and failed to score) in Philly last time out, but they did create plenty of chances in that game, while they once again found a way to avoid defeat.
Hard to beat is definitely the way to describe the Red Bulls in recent weeks. They’ve had times where they’ve not been at full strength, missing both Emile Forsberg and Lewis Morgan, which naturally dents their offensive power, but they’ve found ways to dig deep and get results.
Don’t be surprised to see the Red Bulls explode into life after that effort in Philly last time out, where they created the chances but didn’t quite apply the finishing touches.
Colorado Rapids vs New York Red Bulls picks
Before the Rapids and the Red Bulls do battle in Colorado this weekend, I’ve pinpointed two bets, both of which look to offer some value for money based on the early lines.
New York Red Bulls Over 1.5 Team Goals
The Rapids will get forward at home, make no mistake about that, and they certainly have the tools to make headway in the final third, but they will also leave space, which should suit a Red Bulls side that can seriously threaten on the break.
We’ve seen the Red Bulls thrive offensively in road games of this nature against pressing teams, scoring multiple goals away against the likes of CF Montreal, DC, Inter Miami, LAFC and Cincinnati.
Moreover, for all their goals at the right end, the Rapids don’t keep many clean sheets at home, while they have conceded multiple goals in games of this nature, which leaves me to conclude that the odds available here are a little large.
Lewis Morgan Anytime Scorer
Since jetting off to join up with the Scotland squad ahead of Euro 2024, Lewis Morgan hasn’t scored for the Red Bulls, but he’s only started once since then, making his first appearance from the outset last time out the Union.
Despite not scoring in that game, Morgan got into several good positions and as he typically does, looked threatening.
The 27-year-old has scored nine goals in Major League Soccer this season, notching a promising average of 0.57 goals per 90 minutes, while his average of 0.49 xG per 90 minutes is impressive too.
It won’t be long until this dangerous marksman hits the net again and after his goal hunger resulted in him taking nine shots in his last two appearances, he looks a little generously priced here, let’s be honest.
