After what has felt like an age, even with the Leagues Cup to focus on, Major League Soccer is finally back. There’s nothing quite like MLS, let’s be honest, so it’s a great feeling to have it back.
Ahead of the return of top-tier domestic soccer, it’s time to delve into the data and pick out those best bets. Read on for our MLS best bets for August 24th.
MLS picks and best bets
After what probably has been the best Leagues Cup to date, especially for Major League Soccer teams, who’ve absolutely dominated during the latter stages of the competition, it’s good to be back at it digging deep for those MLS best bets. Here goes.
Best MLS betting offers
Tani Oluwaseyi to Score
(Minnesota United vs Seattle Sounders)
One man who’ll likely be keen to get back down to the regularity of MLS business is Tani Oluwaseyi, who with international commitments, slight injury concerns and the Leagues Cup to think about, hasn’t had much consistency.
However, before all of that, the Canadian forward was banging the goals in for fun, so don’t be surprised if he gets back to finding the net with regularity now that we have a clear run of MLS games to aim at.
Oluwaseyi has scored a hugely impressive average of 0.90 goals per 90 minutes this season, which is incredibly difficult to ignore, especially when odds of +185 are floating around.
Three goals in his last four regular season appearances, the 24-year-old is worth siding with ahead of this weekend’s home fixture against the Sounders, that’s for sure.
Sam Surridge to Score
(Nashville vs Austin)
Another player who has had a slightly interrupted campaign is Sam Surridge, but it’s as clear as day that the Englishman is a goal-scorer at Major League Soccer level.
The former Premier League forward has notched eight times for Nashville this term, scoring 0.46 goals per 90 minutes.
Five of those eight goals have come at home, which bodes well ahead of Nashville’s fixture against an Austin side that is far from strong defensively when playing on the road.
Having grabbed a goal in Nashville’s most recent Leagues Cup game, which ended in defeat via penalties, Surridge will be chomping at the bit to get back out and there with odds of +180 available, given what he’s achieved already this season, I’m betting that he finds the net on Saturday evening.
Sebastian Ferreira to Score
(Houston vs Toronto)
Last but certainly not least, I simply cannot leave Sebastian Ferreira alone this weekend, not at all.
Up against a very poor TFC back-line, the Houston Dynamo forward has a huge opportunity to hit the ground running now that Major League Soccer is back and I’m betting that he can take that opportunity.
The Paraguayan wasn’t involved too much during the Leagues Cup campaign, but he was regular in MLS before that and had really started to make his mark in terms of scoring goals, notching a hat-trick against D.C. in late June, before going on to score against Minnesota in July.
Ferreira averages an eye-catching 0.74 goals per 90 minutes for Houston in MLS this season, which really does make odds of +150 look a little generous.
An average of 3.26 shots per 90 minutes further fuels the fire, to the point that odds of +150 really should be taken.
