This will be the second time that the pair have faced off this season. Back in May, the Timbers won by two goals to one, thanks to a second-half strike from club legend Raul Ruidiaz.

After what was a rather unsuccessful Leagues Cup campaign, the Timbers returned to Major League Soccer last weekend in high-scoring fashion.

At one end, Phil Neville’s men were excellent, creating chances, scoring four goals, with Evander, Felipe More and Jonathan Rodriguez all looking very dangerous.

Unfortunately, the Timbers also defended horribly in that first game back in MLS. They conceded three first-half goals and really did struggle to keep things tight at the back, which doesn’t exactly bode well ahead of a game against a Sounders team that has lots of offensive quality.

For the Sounders, the return to Major League Soccer last weekend was a positive one, with Brian Schmetzer’s men returning from their journey to Minnesota with all three points following a 2-3 win.

Like the Timbers, Saturday’s visitors showed moments of defensive weakness last time out, but they also showed an awful lot of offensive quality, with both Jordan Morris and Albert Rusnak offering a serious threat.

Prior to the Leagues Cup break, the Sounders were speeding along, winning with regularity, which has helped them to climb into the top five, just a point behind the Rapids in fourth.

The Timbers also rank in the top four in the Western Conference for both goals for and goals against, while both teams have been involved in numerous high-scoring games of late.

Jordan Morris to Score

Arguably Seattle’s most dangerous player this season, Jordan Morris is worth betting on to notch at odds of +175.

Morris scored on his MLS return last weekend, taking his total (in Major League Soccer) into double figures for the season.

In games of this nature, Morris’ pace, power and direct running are a real threat on the break, so we really shouldn’t be surprised if he causes a weak Timbers back-line some serious issues.

Evander to Score

I can’t leave this game alone without getting Portland’s Evander on my side. The Brazilian is easily one of the most talented players in all of Major League Soccer and he’s delivered some impressive performances at Providence Park this season.

Given that the 26-year-old averages 0.59 goals per 90 minutes for the Timbers this season, scoring in four of his last five, he simply must be supported at odds of +240.
