Marina Stakusic vs Anna Karolina Schmiedlova picks
In the early betting ahead of this WTA clash, betting on one player to get the job done looks to offer a smidgen of value, as the table above shows.
Anna Karolina Schmiedlova to Win
I won’t beat around the bush here. This looks like a nice opportunity for Anna Karolina Schmiedlova to make a winning start to her time in Mexico, perhaps a slightly better opportunity than the early odds suggest.
Her Canadian opponent has not been in pleasing hard-court form of late, losing each of her last four matches. She’s also won just one out of six matches on this surface since the end of the grass-court season.
In contrast, Schmiedlova has won three of her last four, while she’s had plenty of time to warm up and get used to things in Guadalajara, playing four matches at a Challenger event last week. She reached the semi-finals there, beating players that currently rank higher than Stakusic.
That recent experience in Mexico could prove to be invaluable, so don’t be surprised if the player ranked 53 spots above her opponent gets the job done. My money says that she can do just that.
Sure, taking odds of -175 won’t be everyone’s cup of coffee, but for those who seek it, there’s a slither of value to be had here.
