The WTA event in the Mexican city of Guadaljara, otherwise known as the Guadalajara Open Akron, is nearing its conclusion. We’ve now reached the semi-finals stage, meaning that only four players remain.

Each of the top three seeds are out, so this is now a big opportunity for some seemingly less likely winners to pick up some silverware. Read on for our WTA predictions.

Saturday’s WTA Tennis Picks

The match in focus ahead of Saturday’s action is the second semi-final, the one between Magdalena Frech and Caroline Garcia. This is a battle between the fourth and fifth seeds, but who will make it through to the final?

Magdalena Frech vs Caroline Garcia picks

Ahead of this tennis battle between Poland and France, one bet stands out as a value play based on the early lines:

Magdalena Frech to Win

Magdalena Frech is the narrow favorite ahead of this clash, though I’d argue that she ought to be a slightly stronger favorite, as the table above suggests. Therefore, betting on the Polish player to get the job done offers some value for money.

Garcia is the slightly higher-ranked player, but her stock has fallen in recent times and it’s probably fair to say that she’s not really at her best. Sure, she’s made the semi-final, which would suggest that she’s playing well, but it’s been quite an easy run for the French player.

Firstly, Garica went straight into the last-16, before beating a player ranked 169th to reach the quarters, where she got a walkover against Bouzkova, who withdrew. In other words, she’s won just one match to reach this semi-final, so she may not be as well prepared as Frech.

Unlike Garcia, who has had it easy, Frech beat two American players in Bektas and Krueger, who is ranked 51st in the world, before beating the improving and in-form Stakusic last time out in straight sets. That performance should not be ignored.

It’s impossible to say that the Polish player isn’t more ready for this, while she’s clearly in stronger form than her opponent. Throw in the fact that she beat Garcia in straight sets when the pair met on a hard court earlier in the season and she becomes too good to miss at odds of -120.
