It was nice to land a third successive tennis winner yesterday, with Magdalena Frech getting the job done in the final of the Guadalajara Open Akron. We now move on to this weeks’ action.

The beginning of a new week means the start of a new set of tournaments. It’s quite a busy week in the world of tennis, that’s for sure.

Things get underway at four tournaments in Asia, with two ATP tournaments in the Chinese cities of Hangzhou and Chengdu, while for WTA players it’s about the events in Seoul, South Korea and Hua Hin, Thailand.

Tuesday’s WTA Tennis Picks

To start the week on the tennis front, we’re focusing on the WTA event in the South Korean capital of Seoul. The match in question ahead of Tuesday is the one between Peyton Stearns and Emma Raducanu.

Our picks and predictions for this WTA match are as follows:

Peyton Stearns vs Emma Raducanu picks

Emma Raducanu may be the early favorite, but a stronger case can be made for Stearns than the early odds suggest, that’s for sure.

Peyton Stearns to Win

One of the first things to note about this match is the fact that the pair played just last month, with Emma Raducanu winning in straight sets (7-6, 6-2) at the WTA event in Washington.

On that form, it’s easy to see why the British player is quite a strong favorite, but I’d argue that the early market is relying a little too heavily on that result.

Sure, Raducanu won that match, but she only just edged the first set, which could’ve gone either way, so it’s not as if she was totally dominant. Moreover, the pair have gone separate ways in terms of form since, with Stearns thriving and Raducanu barely playing.

Raducanu lost her next match in Washington, before losing in the first round of the US Open, and she’s not been seen since.

In contrast, Stearns has been much more active and the American competitor has been playing very well, which could hold her in good stead here.

In fact, since losing to Raducanu in Washington, Stearns has seriously knuckled down, spending lots of time on the court, beating some very good players such as Kasatkina, Keys and Azarenka, all of whom rank comfortably higher than Raducanu.

Since that defeat, while Raducanu has won one out of two, Stearns has won seven out of 11, so I really, really wouldn’t be surprised if she makes this a much tougher test than the British player received in Washington.

On all available evidence, Stearns deserves more respect, so all the time odds of +160 are available, she’s a value bet to come out on top.
