It was great to see Elisabetta Cocciaretto do her bit for the tennis betting profit and loss last time out, securing us a nice win by picking up a set against Elise Mertens. Let’s see if we can continue with the winners on Monday.

As things start to heat up on Monday, we’re sticking with the WTA action in Beijing from a betting point of view. Read on for our WTA predictions and picks.

Jasmine Paolini vs Magda Linette picks

Based on the early lines, there’s value to be had by siding with the Italian to pick up a straight-set victory here.

Jasmine Paolini to Win 2-0

Jasmine Paolini, who has had what can only be described as a wondrous season, reaching not one but two Grand Slam finals, had to battle hard to overcome the challenge of Tauson, but overcome it she did, winning decisively in the third set.

With that hard-fought win under her belt, I now expect the Italian to kick on, which she can do by beating Magda Linette in straight sets.

The Polish player is occasionally capable of tussling with higher-ranked players, but she’s nowhere near as consistent as Paolini, while her recent hard-court form leaves plenty to be desired.

Sure, like Paolini, she battled well to make it through the previous round, but the fact that she needed three sets against a lower-ranked player doesn’t exactly suggest that she’ll get seriously competitive against the world number five, let’s be real.

Prior to edging through against Uchijima, Linette lost in straight sets to Sramkova, who is ranked 61st, while the Pole has also won just two of her last five hard-court matches.

It’s absolutely worth mentioning the fact that the pair met at the Olympics just a few months ago, where at the Parisian venue of Roland Garros, Paolini pulled clear to win by two sets to nil. That was on a clay surface, sure, but I see no reason why the world number five can’t repeat the trick in Beijing.

We know that Paolini can beat better players than Linette in rather simple fashion, as she proved when beating Putintseva in straight sets at the US Open recently.

Quite simply, Paolini's credentials tell me that she should be winning this one with a bit to spare, so much so that she’s well worth betting on to get it done in straight sets.
