Great to see both Monday’s and Tuesday’s tennis bets winning, taking us to five tennis winners in a row. Hopefully the good run continues as we get back down to business on Wednesday.

We’re once again focusing on the WTA event in China, otherwise known as the Wuhan Open, where one match catches the eye in particular. Read on for our free WTA tennis predictions and tips.

Wednesday’s WTA Tennis Picks

On Wednesday, the match in focus is the one between Yue Yuan and Jasmine Paolini, which is expected to be the last match to begin, meaning that it can be followed at a more friendly time by those in the US.

Yue Yuan vs Jasmine Paolini picks

Ahead of this match, there’s some value to be had by betting on Yue Yuan to outperform her odds.

Yue Yuan +1.5 Set Handicap

I’ll start by saying that Jasmine Paolini is absolutely entitled to be a strong favorite ahead of this match. The Italian is the much higher-ranked player and she’s shown her class this season, reaching not one but two Grand Slam finals.

However, I’d argue that she’s a little over bet here. It’s been a long, grueling campaign for Paolini, and in recent weeks, she’s shown signs that she’s now flagging a little.

Paolini lost to Muchova in straight sets at the US Open, before taking more than three weeks off. She returned to stutter beyond Tauson in three sets in Beijing, but couldn’t go further than the second round, losing in straight sets to Magda Linette. We saw a Paolini not at her best on that occasion. We’ve not seen her since.

Yue Yuan hasn’t exactly been firing on all cylinders of late, but she has the advantage of playing on home soil, while she’s also played one match at this tournament already, giving herself a small advantage over her opponent here in terms of preparation and match readiness, which might just have been overlooked by the early market.

We know that Yuan is a strong hard-court competitor on her day, with her winning a title in Austin last season. She also reached the semi-finals in Hobart, Australia late last season, and reached finals in both Japan and her native China.

Given that the Chinese player will face a Paolini who may not be at her best, shorter odds would be warranted, meaning that there’s value to be had by betting on her to, at the very least, avoid a straight-set defeat.
