Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Magdalena Frech picks
Looking at the early lines, it’s well worth betting on the Brazilian player to pick up a straightforward win.
Beatriz Haddad Maia to Win 2-0
It’s been a fantastic few months for Beatriz Haddad Maia, whose stock has risen considerably this season. The Brazilian is now ranked as high as 12th in the world and rightly so.
Last time out, she took care of Veronika Kudermetova in uncompromising fashion, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. With that under her belt, she could probably be a good bit shorter to earn another straight-set success here.
You could argue that Magdalena Frech is a better player than Kudermetova and the rankings would agree with you, though that might not be enough for the Polish player to get seriously competitive.
Frech did battle well to beat Navarro in three sets last time out, but that effort will have taken plenty out of her, which doesn't bode well given that Haddad Maia won without fully extending herself.
The Brazilian has won three of her last four hard-court matches in straight sets, while her quality was there for all to see when she took the title in Seoul a fortnight ago.
If we factor in that Haddad Maia beat Frech in straight sets, winning 7-5, 6-3, when the pair met earlier in the season, as well as when the pair met on a hard court last season, it’s easy to feel that the early market isn’t quite giving her the respect that she deserves. Therefore, taking her to win in straight sets is a bet worth placing.
