Dominic Stricker vs Tallon Griekspoor picks
The early lines aren’t quite right as far as I’m concerned, leaving us with the chance to grab some value by betting on Griekspoor to
Tallon Griekspoor to Win 2-0
This is a massive opportunity for Tallon Griekspoor to lay down a statement, so much so that he’s absolutely worth betting on to get the job done in straight sets, which for my money, is currently available at slightly larger odds than it really should be.
The Dutchman is a serious player on European hard courts, there can be no denying that, and we saw just how effective he can be when he recently beat Casper Ruud in straight sets in Stockholm, while he put up a decent fight when going down to world number nine Grigor Dimitrov last time out.
In fact, Griekspoor clearly has his general hard-court game in good shape as his only recent losses on this surface have come against players ranked ninth or better, losing to Dimitrov, Zverev and Alcaraz.
In rather stark contrast, Stricker struggled against a much higher-ranked player last time out, losing to the same player that Griekspoor lost to, but doing so without putting up anywhere near the same level of resistance.
The Swiss player has also lost six of his last eight matches against higher-ranked players, while Griekspoor has won each of his last three matches against lower-ranked players in straight sets.
To be quite honest, if this match wasn’t taking place in his native Switzerland, Stricker would be available at much bigger odds here. I’m really not sure the home advantage holds as much sway as the early market says it does. Therefore, I’m betting on Griekspoor, who is clearly the superior player, to pass this test with flying colors.
