From a tennis betting point of view, the last couple of days haven’t gone too swimmingly, with both Shang and Griekspoor falling way short of expectations. That’s the way it goes in this game, though.

It’s now time to look ahead to Wednesday’s tennis action. We’re going to leave behind the action in Basel, Switzerland and instead focus on the Vienna Open. Read on for our ATP tennis predictions and picks.

Karen Khachanov vs Thiago Seyboth Wild picks

Despite the Russian’s recent tournament success, at the early prices, I’m siding with the Brazilian to get the win here.

Thiago Seyboth Wild to Win

As far as I’m concerned, as the table above suggests, there’s plenty of value to be had by betting on Thiago Seyboth Wild to beat Karen Khachanov at the Vienna Open, known for sponsorship purposes as the Erste Bank Open on Wednesday.

Now, I know you might be thinking that Khachanov comes here off the back of a tournament win, but let’s face it, the Russian is far from the most consistent, while it’s not as if he’s just won a major tournament, so we shouldn’t just assume that he’s going to get the job done against what is a very useful player.

Not only is Seyboth Wild a very useful player, but the Brazilian has had the benefit of extra time to get used to the courts in the Austrian capital, where he’s already played twice, beating Carreno-Busto and Kovacevic, both in straight sets.

We must also not ignore that Seyboth Wild has won five of his last six hard-court matches, losing only to world number 11 Tsitsipas, and he pushed the Greek very hard in that match, losing the first set in a tie break, winning the second set, before taking the third set to 12 games. His effort in that match tells me he can get seriously competitive against Khachanov.

Having won that event in Kazakhstan just a few days ago, Khachanov will arrive in Austria in strong form, though let’s face it, he’s had plenty of traveling to do and very little time to prepare in Vienna. This is very much in Seyboth Wild’s favor as far as I’m concerned.

Moreover, Khachanov didn’t have to beat anyone significant to secure the title in Almaty, while he’s not always a player that holds his form so well. If we look back to last season, we can see that he struggled to remain at the same level in Dubai following success in Doha.

Last but certainly not least, Seyboth Wild has the positive experience of having beaten Khachanov on a hard surface earlier in the season. He won in straight sets on that occasion.

All things considered, there’s much more to like about the Brazilian’s chances here than the early odds suggest, and he’s absolutely worth betting on to win all the time such generous odds remain on offer.
