After a few days away from the tennis betting scene, we’re back at it at the start of this new week. This week, there are several tournaments taking place, both for ATP and WTA players.

From a betting angle, we’re starting the week with the WTA event in Hong Kong, better known as the Hong Kong Open. Read on for our WTA tennis picks and best bets.

Tuesday’s WTA Tennis Picks

The match in question here is the one between Ana Bogdan and Kimberly Birrell. Having both lost to the same player last time out, this is a hugely intriguing contest.

Ana Bogdan vs Kimberly Birrell picks

At what looks a slightly generous price, I’m siding with the Romanian to get the job done here.

Ana Bogdan to Win

As the table above suggests, I’m of the opinion that there’s a slither of value for bettors to take by betting on Ana Bogdan to win this match at odds of -115.

The Romanian has had her hard-court game in fine shape in recent weeks, there can be no denying that. Sure, she lost last time out, but let’s face it, she put up much more of a fight against the same opponent that Birrell recently lost to.

To clarify, both players faced Suzen Lamens in Osaka recently. While Kimberly Birrell lost in straight sets, losing 6-0, 6-4, Bogdan took the match to three sets, pushing the Dutch player far more than Tuesday’s Australian opponent did. I’m not quite sure this has been factored in the odds here quite enough.

Moreover, Bogdan has generally been operating at a higher level than Birrell, who won just one match in Osaka, before losing to Lamens. Bogdan won four matches in total in Osaka, beating the likes of Bouzkova and Kudermetova in straight sets. Both of those players are ranked much higher than Birrell, who has not achieved the same level of form in recent times.

All things considered, Ana Bogdan has what I can only describe as a decent opportunity to get the win here and while odds of -115 are on offer, she’s worth betting on to come out on top.
