As the race MLS Cup starts to really heat up, eight teams remain, two of which are NYCFC and the New York Red Bulls, who’ll go head-to-head at Yankee Stadium on Saturday evening.
Will the Red Bulls take revenge for two regular-season defeats against their rivals? Or will we see yet another win for the NYCFC boys? Read on for our NYCFC vs New York Red Bulls predictions and picks.
NYCFC vs New York Red Bulls prediction
For the NYCFC vs New York Red Bulls game prediction, we believe the final score will be a 2-2 tie based on our analysis.
The hosts will pile on the pressure at Yankee Stadium and they have the offensive strength to do some damage, but as we saw during the last round, the Red Bulls can be very dangerous on the counter in these big games.

NYCFC vs New York Red Bulls head-to-head statistics
This will be the third time that the pair have met in 2024. Back in May, the NYCFC boys won by two goals to one at this venue, before surprising their rivals with a 1-5 win at Red Bull Arena in September.
NYCFC vs New York Red Bulls preview
This game will take place on 23/11/2024 at Yankee Stadium. Kick off will be at 19:30 local time.
Going up against last season’s MVP Luciano Acost and friends, the NYCFC boys may not have had too much hope, but they stuck to their task, despite losing the first of their best-of-three tie against Cincinnati, winning the second game at home, before grinding out the 0-0 in the decider, winning on penalties in dramatic fashion.
The Red Bulls also upset the odds during the best-of-three stage of the play-offs, defeating the Columbus Crew, doing so with a game to spare, much to the surprise of many of their own fans, who probably weren’t feeling too confident going up against the previously menacing Crew.
After getting the job done against one of the best teams in all of Major League Soccer, winning both home and away, showing that they’re absolutely a team capable of hurting the best on the break, the Red Bulls may just fancy themselves to get the better of their rivals here.
NYCFC vs New York Red Bulls picks
Looking at the early lines, two bets appeal ahead of this MLS playoffs game:
Over 3.0 Asian Total
Given what we’ve seen from the pair in recent times, I’m not quite sure that the early market has got this one right in terms of goals betting.
We know that the hosts will come on strong at Yankee Stadium, much as they did against Cincinnati in their last home game, when scoring twice inside the opening 40 minutes, and we know that they’ve got more than enough quality in the final third to damage what is sometimes a creaky Red Bulls’ back-line.
However, the visitors are no pushovers, and with someone like Emile Forsberg pulling the strings for willing speedsters Lewis Morgan and Dante Vanzeir, they’ll be a serious threat on the break.
It’s also far from uncommon for games at Yankee Stadium to produce goals, as NYCFC’s recent home results, as shown below, suggest.
NYCFC’s last six home results:
Won 3-1 against Cincinnati
Won 3-1 against Nashville
Won 3-2 against Cincinnati
Drew 1-1 against Inter Miami
Lost 1-5 to Philadelphia Union
As we can see, the goals regularly flow when Nick Cushing’s men play at home, while the visitors aren’t averse to a high-scorer either, while the two regular-season games between the pair produced a total of nine goals.
The straight knockout nature of this fixture only adds to the chances of an attacking game as far as I’m concerned, as the visitors absolutely don’t have the luxury of waiting for a second or third fixture. This is it. Expect both to go for it. Expect goals.
Lewis Morgan to Score
Emile Forsberg stole the headlines as the Red Bulls completed their smash-and-grab against the Crew last time out, and rightly so, but Lewis Morgan turned in yet another strong performance, showing himself to be a clear threat on the break, forcing some very smart saves.
The Scottish winger/forward hasn’t scored for a while, but this sort of game is very much the type of game in which he thrives, while we shouldn’t forget that this is a man who notched 13 goals during the regular season, scoring a pleasing average of 0.48 goals per 90 minutes.
Shooting four times in each of his last three appearances, Morgan has looked hungry for goals of late, and at odds of +195, I’m betting on the Scotsman to satisfy his hunger in Queens on Saturday night.
