After yet another disappointing outing, the Tottenham boys return home on Sunday, where they’ll take on a Chelsea side that delivered a rampant display during the week.

Still missing key defensive personnel, can the hosts improve? Or will the visitors be the latest in an ever growing line of teams to upset Ange Postecoglou’s men? Read on for our Tottenham vs Chelsea predictions and picks.

Tottenham vs Chelsea head-to-head statistics

When the teams last locked horns, at Stamford Bridge back in May, it was Chelsea that emerged victorious, winning by two goals to nil. Chelsea also won at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season, scoring four and conceding just one in the process.

Tottenham vs Chelsea preview

This game will take place on 08/12/2024 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Kick off will be at 11:30 EST.

After experiencing the disappointment of being pegged back on home soil by Fulham on Sunday afternoon, eventually tying 1-1 in rather underwhelming fashion, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou would’ve been hoping to witness better on Thursday evening.

Unfortunately, the Aussie likely left Vitality Stadium feeling even more aggrieved than he did on Sunday, with his side going down by a goal to nil, and it could easily have been more, let’s be honest.

After a couple of weak efforts, Spurs now need to bounce back, but is this game against an in-form Chelsea side really what they need right now? Probably not, but it’s what they’ve got, and they’d better raise their game.

For Chelsea, it’s been an excellent week, with the Blues dismantling Aston Villa with ease last weekend, winning by three goals to nil, while Enzo Maresca’s men stepped on the gas on the south coast on Wednesday evening, scoring five goals on their way to beating Southampton.

Playing away from home hasn’t been a problem for the Chelsea boys in recent weeks, with Sunday’s visitors winning each of their last three road fixtures, and after such a run, they’ll likely fancy themselves to extend that winning streak.

Tottenham vs Chelsea picks

Looking at the early lines ahead of this EPL fixture, the following picks stand out:

Moises Caicedo to Get a Card

First and foremost, with this likely to be a feisty encounter, ‘Moises Caicedo to Get a Card’ is well worth betting on at odds of +215.

The Chelsea midfielder, who at times has been deployed as a full-back this season, is absolutely no stranger to getting himself in trouble, while in big games, he has a tendency to make numerous fouls.

So far in the Premier League this season, Caicedo is averaging 2.04 fouls per 90 minutes. He’s also been booked three times, and to be honest, the Colombian can count himself lucky not to have picked up double that number.

Last season, Caicedo saw no less than 11 yellow cards waved his way in the Premier League, averaging 0.35 cards per 90 minutes. It’s also worth mentioning that the midfielder has typically committed more fouls against the better teams this season, making at least two fouls against Aston Villa, Brighton, Arsenal, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, all of whom are currently in the top half.

Tosin Adarabioyo to Score

I also cannot resist betting on Chelsea central defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who in the absence of Wesley Fofana has come into the team recently.

The big man at the back is no stranger to getting on the end of set pieces either, scoring a couple of times in the league for Fulham last season, while he’s fired off two attempts in recent games for Chelsea, averaging 0.68 shots per 90 minutes. Last term for the Cottagers, he averaged 0.78 shots per 90 minutes.

Spurs, especially with key defensive players missing right now, look like a side can be bullied from set pieces, s Bournemouth showed on Thursday, so I really wouldn’t be surprised if Adarabioyo caused problems at corners, and at odds of +1800, he’s worth betting on to notch his first goal in a Chelsea jersey.
