As long as you live in one of these states, you will be able to use FanDuel safely in the knowledge that they have the legal right to operate in that state.

If you don’t live in one of these states, however, don’t worry too much. FanDuel is constantly expanding its reach, and expanding into new states and even international territories.

Security

FanDuel is also a very safe platform to use from a security perspective. The company uses state-of-the-art coding and firewalls to ensure your data will always be protected, even against the most efficient hackers.

Furthermore, to stay on top of any vulnerabilities, FanDuel recently partnered with HackerOne – a platform that pays individuals to report bugs and safety vulnerabilities in partnered websites.

This partnership shows that FanDuel genuinely prioritizes its safety, and is willing to pay anyone who can find a fault with its software.

Track record

Beyond this, FanDuel has a track record of honest and fair behavior. It was first formed in 2009 and has never shown any signs of vulnerability, or illegal or dishonest behavior.

Therefore, you can rest assured that when you use FanDuel, both your money and data will be completely safe.

Pros

  • Great track record

  • Excellent security measures in place

  • Authorized in over a dozen states

Cons

  • None

Mobile betting app – 5 stars

FanDuel’s mobile app was one of the best betting apps I’ve ever used.

The design is fantastic, navigation is straightforward, and making a bet is quick and painless.

Look and feel

The overall look of FanDuel’s mobile app is very professional. It uses a white background with a modern blue font, which is easy to read against the light background.

If you’re not a fan of this light theme, however, FanDuel also offers a Dark Mode. This uses a black background with white and blue fonts and is perfect if you prefer a slightly more subtle, not to mention power-saving, design.

The actual functionality of the mobile app is just as good as it looks.

Everything is where it should be, and thanks to the labeled tabs, finding a certain market couldn’t be easier.

Easy to navigate menu

All of your account settings are located in one section too, making it easy to deposit funds, withdraw winnings, and edit your account details.

There’s also a search bar that can be used to find anything you’re looking for at a moment’s notice.

Making a bet

To make a bet through FanDuel’s mobile app, follow these steps:

  • Scroll through the different markets until you find the match/game that you would like to place a bet on.

  • Click on the match. Three betting options should appear, these being Spread, Money, and Total. If you’d like to bet on something different, click on the ‘more wagers’ tab.

  • After clicking on the desired bet, it will appear on your bet slip. From here, you can finalize the amount you’d like to wager.

  • After customizing your bet, hit confirm!

User experience

I had an awesome experience with FanDuel, and honestly couldn’t fault the app.

For one, the design was incredibly good-looking and easy to navigate, and it only took me a few minutes to feel fully comfortable with the app itself.

Making a bet was also very easy, and I liked how only the main betting options are presented to you as standard. This makes the betting screen much less intimidating for a new bettor and makes navigation in general much easier.

Something that particularly stuck out to me during my testing was how stable the mobile app was. I never experienced a split-second of lag or delay, let alone a crash or freeze.

Instead, the app was always pinpoint accurate and fast, which made making bets an even more seamless experience.

A large reason why the mobile app works so well is that FanDuel is always releasing small updates and patches to improve the user experience in small increments.

It’s overall refreshing to see a betting company put so much effort into its mobile app, rather than neglecting it to save money.

Pros

  • Great design

  • Design is function-forward

  • App is stable and well-built

Cons

  • None

Website – 4.5 stars

The FanDuel website is very similar to its mobile counterpart, making use of the same design and overall feel.

However, the search bar did feel a little weaker on the website.

FanDuel's website homepage
FanDuel's website homepage

Look and feel

The website uses the same design as the mobile app, but because of the extra screen space, actually looks a little cleaner and is much easier to navigate.

Your bet slip, for instance, will always be present on the right-hand side of the screen, and the markets tab is pinned to the left.

User experience

As with the mobile app, I had an excellent experience with FanDuel’s website, which was incredibly user-friendly, good-looking, and easy to navigate.

Swapping between the mobile app and website is a seamless process too, because of the continuity between the two platforms. This means that, whether you’re on the go, or sitting at home, you’ll be able to enjoy what FanDuel has to offer.

The only downside I could find with the website was the search function. When you search for a specific player, the search bar will only take you as far as the game that he or she is part of, which is very frustrating.

Aside from this though, I only had a positive experience with FanDuel’s website.

Pros

  • Good-looking like the mobile app

  • The website makes use of the extra screen space perfectly

  • Continuity between the mobile app and website

Cons

  • Lackluster search function

Deposits and withdrawals – 4.5 stars

Depositing and withdrawing money with FanDuel is a simple, and importantly free, process.

The only thing I missed was crypto payments.

Deposits

There are plenty of ways to deposit FanDuel, including:

  • Visa

  • Mastercard

  • Maestro

  • PayPal

All of the above methods will process instantly and are completely free to make.

The minimum deposit amount is also nice and low at $10, meaning that even if you have a modest betting budget, you shouldn’t run into any issues.

Making a Deposit

To deposit with FanDuel, follow these steps:

  • Head over to the ‘Your Account’ section.

  • Click ‘Add Funds.’

  • Choose your desired payment method and fill in the required information.

  • Hit confirm.

Withdrawals

Withdrawals are likewise completely free to make and can be made to all of the same payment methods as above.

The minimum withdrawal amount is also pretty low at $10.

The time it takes for a withdrawal to process varies depending on your withdrawal method.

For PayPal payments, the transaction may be processed in as little as 24 hours.

However, some banks can take up to five days to process the transaction.

Making a withdrawal

Making a withdrawal through FanDuel is nice and simple. To withdraw cash, follow these steps:

  • Head over to the ‘Your Account’ Section.

  • Click withdraw funds.

  • Choose the amount you’d like to withdraw, and select the appropriate payment method.

  • Hit confirm.

Pros

  • Lots of deposit and withdrawal methods are available

  • Depositing and withdrawing cash is free

  • Low minimum deposit amount

Cons

  • No crypto payments

Markets – 5 stars

FanDuel’s selection of markets is second to none.

While it was originally designed for Fantasy Sports betting, the site has evolved to cover virtually every major sporting event in the US.

You’ll also find more niche options that aren’t covered by other sites.

Fantasy sports

FanDuel was created to be a Fantasy Sports betting site, and as a result, contains a plethora of fantasy sports markets.

Its daily fantasy sports betting options are particularly strong, and if you’re a fan of this space, few other platforms can offer quite so much as FanDuel.

Real sports

If you’re looking to bet on real sports, then FanDuel is still an excellent choice. It has excellent coverage of the major four US leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL) as well as other popular betting options such as college football and basketball.

Aside from these major markets, you’ll also find great coverage of other sports like tennis and boxing and slightly less popular options such as MMA and cycling.

The range of submarkets within each of these categories is also impressive.

Whether you’re betting on college football or the Wimbolden final, you’ll be able to make a bet on virtually anything you could think of, from the winner of a certain league to the number of points a player will score in a match.

This range opens the doors to creative, and potentially lucrative, bets.

Pros

  • Great coverage of fantasy sports

  • Even better coverage of real sports

  • Major and minor markets covered

Cons

  • None

Pre-match betting – 5 stars

When it comes to pre-match betting, few sites come close to what FanDuel can offer.

The unbelievable coverage, coupled with additions such as the Parlay builder, ultimately makes for a perfect pre-match betting formula.

Coverage

As mentioned in the previous section, FanDuel’s pre-match coverage is second to none.

Virtually every match and odds for every market is covered, and if FanDuel doesn’t cover what you’re looking for, there’s a pretty good chance that no other platform will.

Parlay builder

When pre-match betting, it’s also a great idea to take advantage of FanDuel’s parlay builder.

This allows you to combine several bets into one, thereby massively increasing your risk (as if one bet fails, they all will) while simultaneously raising your potential for reward.

Pros

  • Unmatched coverage

  • Great additions like a parlay builder

Cons

  • None

In-play betting – 4.5 stars

Just like its pre-match betting, FanDuel’s in-play betting is comprehensive and versatile.

The addition of a live streaming service only makes this feature better.

Markets

FanDuel offers in-play betting for virtually every live game you could think of. The odds are also updated in real-time, as the events of the match unfold.

You can tell that FanDuel is built for live betting, because the odds and markets update instantly as the game goes on, making for a smooth and easy-to-use service.

One feature that I particularly liked was the ‘cash out’ option, which lets you cash out early if, at that point in time, the team you bet on is winning, but you feel they will lose come the final whistle.

Live streaming

FanDuel also offers a complimentary live-streaming service when you make a wager on certain games.

The matches that you’re able to watch vary between states, but generally, the coverage is better than competitors such as DraftKings.

And what can beat the feeling of watching a game, knowing that at any moment you could win big?

Pros

  • Great in-play markets and betting options

  • Complimentary live-streaming service

Cons

  • Live streaming is not available for several sports

Welcome incentive – 4 stars

FanDuel is currently offering a very attractive welcome incentive that can essentially net you $150 in free bet credits.

However, the incentive is conditional upon you winning your first bet, and other platforms do offer equal, or even better welcome bonuses.

2024 incentive

New customers have the opportunity to gain $150 bonus bets if their first bet is a winner. This theoretically means that, by risking just $5, you stand the chance of earning $150 back.

However, it’s important to stress that you will only be able to redeem this welcome bonus if you win your first bet.

Therefore, the chance of you being able to redeem this offer is far from 100%.

How to redeem

To redeem this offer, all you need to do is create an account and deposit at least $10. From here, simply place a minimum of $5 on a qualifying bet, and should you win, the funds will be automatically deposited into your account.

These funds will be in the form of bet credits, rather than flat-out cash, meaning you won’t be able to withdraw it straight away. Instead, you’ll need to place winning bets to be able to withdraw any money.

Other promotions

There are plenty of other promotions that make FanDuel even more attractive to newer clients. These include:

  • Referral Bonus. If you successfully get a friend to sign up for FanDuel and make a wager of at least $10, you will both receive a $50 bonus. You can do this as many times as you like, and as long as the person you’re referring makes a qualifying bet, the money will keep rolling into your account.

  • Racing Promo. New accounts will also benefit from wager protection of up to $200 on their first bet on a single horse in any race. This is a great way to get into the risky business of horse racing without actually losing any of your own money.

Comparative offers

There’s no denying that FanDuel’s welcome incentive is extremely attractive. However, some sites such as BetMGM are currently matching FanDuel’s welcome incentive, meaning that FanDuel’s incentive isn’t quite head and shoulders above the competition.

Furthermore, losing your first bet will mean that you won’t be able to realize any kind of welcome bonus with FanDuel. Therefore, if you’re looking for a safer option, DraftKing’s $1000 risk-free first bet may be a more attractive option for you.

Nevertheless, this is still a decent offer and yet another reason to give FanDuel a try.

Pros

  • The welcome incentive is one of the most attractive on the market

  • Abundance of other attractive promotions

Cons

  • Some competitors like MGM do match FanDuel’s welcome bonus

  • The welcome bonus is only redeemable if you win your first bet

Customer service – 4 stars

On the whole, FanDuel’s customer service is of a very high quality.

However, you cannot reach out via phone call, which massively takes away from the overall appeal of FanDuel’s customer support.

Telephone

Unfortunately, you cannot reach out to FanDuel’s customer support team via phone call.

This is pretty disappointing, because oftentimes it’s extremely difficult to express a problem through an email or live chat, and you do need to talk someone through the problem you’re facing.

Email

On the plus side, FanDuel does have a very strong email support system. When you email in with a question, you will be issued a ticket, and the team will almost always respond to you within 24 hours.

From my testing, the responses are very thorough, with a long-form response to my question as well as links to relevant FAQ sections to solidify my understanding.

You can also reach out in the same way via X or Facebook if this is easier for you.

Live chat

If you need a question answered immediately, FanDuel also offers a 24/7 Live Chat service. Unlike competitors such as DraftKings, this is operated by humans, not bots, and so is overall much more user-friendly and helpful.

The time it takes you to connect to an agent will depend on the time of day you reach out, but generally, you will be connected to an agent within a few minutes.

The agents know what they’re talking about and will normally be able to resolve your issue in the space of a few messages.

Pros

  • Well-structured email service

  • 24/7 live chat

Cons

  • No way to phone in

Step 1: Open the URL and Choose a State
Step 2: Fill out the Registration Form
Step 3: Verify Your Account Details

Final thoughts

Ultimately, it’s not difficult to see why FanDuel is one of the most widely used sports betting sites in the US; it’s excellent in every way.

Both from a style and functionality perspective, the platform itself is near-perfect. Its offering of markets, both pre-match and live, is virtually unmatched.

The welcome offer is attractive, and the customer service is strong. It’s ultimately difficult to find a serious fault with the platform, and for that reason, I would recommend FanDuel to any sports bettor, beginner or veteran.

How to gamble responsibly

Before we end this article, we need to caution you to always bet responsibly.

To ensure you’re being cautious, betting sites implement various responsible gambling practices that will help you keep your betting habits in check.

  • Limits: Online sports betting apps allow you to set betting limits, i.e. limit how much you can bet in a day, a week, or a month.

  • Cashouts: You can withdraw your winnings quite easily from any betting platform. This prevents you from spending all of your winnings. There’s also the option for early cashout, so you can still get paid if the bet is starting to go sideways.

  • Help & resources: Betting apps provide access to resources for problem gamblers and point them to organizations that can help with gambling addiction.

To help with gambling, we created a 'how to bet on sports' guide, that helps new sports bettors understand the industry better, to play safer and more securely.
