On Friday night, the biggest footballing event of the year kicks off in Germany as Euro 2024 gets underway.

The Scots have the privilege of raising the curtain on this feast of football by facing the tournament hosts, but can they make any headway? Read on for Germany vs Scotland bet builder predictions.

Germany vs Scotland bet builder tips

This match is due to take place at Allianz Arena in Munich on 14/06/2024. Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.

I’ve already spoken about this game in relative detail, at least from a betting point of view, pinpointing a couple of value selections, in the Germany vs Scotland predictions and tips article, but as it’s the opening game, let’s spice things up with a bet builder, one that pays an attractive 10/1 with bet365.

Both Teams to Score

We’ll start with the obvious bet as far as I’m concerned at the early odds, which is ‘Both Teams to Score’.

The Germans have a fantastic attacking set-up, with the likes of Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, not to mention Leroy Sane and Kai Havertz. We know that they’ll hurt teams and there’s little to suggest that they won’t do some damage against the Scots.

However, they’ve not looked overly secure at the back, as we saw against the Greeks in their final warm-up game, while this is a Scotland team that can definitely hit on the break, so as mentioned in my other article, ‘Both Teams to Score’ looks a little generously priced in the early betting.

John McGinn to Be Booked

Another single recommended (in more detail) in the Germany vs Scotland preview was John McGinn to get booked and I’m sticking with that selection here too.

McGinn is going to be a big player for Scotland at this tournament. His leadership and experience will be vital, as will his tenacity and tireless work ethic, though it is that tenacity that often sees the Scot get his name taken by referees, especially in big games.

McGinn was Villa’s second-most booked player last season, tending to get booked in games where his team came under pressure and spent lots of time without the ball, as will absolutely be the case in this game.

Scotland Over 5.5 Shots

For many, this opening game will be a walk in the park for the Germans, but I’m not so sure. Yes, the hosts have some terrific players and they absolutely have enough quality to get the job done here, but they’ve been open to attack in recent games, so don’t be surprised if the Scots get forward and threaten, especially on the break.

Against the Greeks, Germany conceded no fewer than 12 shots, while before that, they surrendered seven against Ukraine. In fact, they’ve conceded at least six shots in each of their last 11 games.

Germany Over 4.5 Corners

Last but certainly not least, ‘Germany Over 4.5 Corners’ is a must in any bet builder ahead of this game as far as I’m concerned.

We know that the hosts will dominate possession, and as the Scots sit in and set-up for counter attacks, especially early on, corners for the home team seem inevitable.

After all, Nagelsmann’s men forced 13 corners against Greece last time out, as well as 11 against a defiant Ukraine team, plus six against Holland and five against France, so don’t be surprised if we see the ever-reliable Toni Kroos heading to the corner flag several times during this one.

  • Both Teams to Score
