The second game taking place on Tuesday, the one that rounds off the first set of group games, is Portugal vs Czech Republic in Group F. There’s high expectations on this Portuguese side, but can they live up to their name with a win? Read on for our Portugal vs Czech Republic predictions.

Portugal vs Czech Republic prediction

For the Portugal vs Czech Republic match prediction, we believe the final score will be 2-0 in favour of Portugal based on our analysis.

Twice during 2022 did the Portuguese get the better of the Czech’s, including a 2-0 win, and it would be little surprise if they repeat that feat here.

See below our Portugal vs Czech Republic predictions, with explanations provided later in the article:

Portugal vs Czech Republic head-to-head statistics

Thanks to sharing a UEFA Nations League group, the pair twice met back in 2022, with Portugal winning 2-0 at home, before doubling down with a 4-0 win away from home.

The Portuguese have won each of their last four games against the Czech’s, who’re without a win in this fixture since winning 1-0 at Euro 1996.

Portugal vs Czech Republic preview

This match is due to be played on 18/06/2024 at Red Bull Arena (Leipzig). Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.

The Portuguese are looking to reclaim the trophy that they famously won in 2016 this summer and you only need to take a quick look at their squad to think that they’ve got a more than reasonable chance of doing just that.

Roberto Martinez has some absolute top-tier talent at his disposal and in positions all over the pitch, plus there’s no shortage of depth to his squad either.

Of course, Martinez has had this before with Belgium, so there are absolutely no guarantees but it’s hard to look at this Portugal squad and not be impressed.

The 2016 winners suffered a rare defeat to Croatia in their first warm-up game, but they bounced back with a convincing win over Ireland, renewing their confidence ahead of this trip to Germany.

Moving on to the Czech’s. Obviously, they’ve got a squad containing far fewer high-profile players, but that hasn’t stopped this relatively small nation from doing well before.

The Czech Republic reached the semi-finals back at Euro 2008, while they’ve twice made the quarters since, so they’re not to be written off too early.

The current crop of players enter this tournament off the back of an excellent winning run, emerging victorious from each of their last five, while they’re unbeaten in seven.

Sure, they haven’t faced much in the way of tough opposition in recent times, their only notable win coming against Norway, but still, such form means that they should enter this tournament not completely without hope of ruffling a few feathers.

Portugal vs Czech Republic Betting tips

Ahead of Tuesday's final kick-off, I’ve settled on two player bets, both of which, though vastly different in terms of price, look somewhat on the large side.

Bernardo Silva to Score Or Assist

What needs to be said about Bernardo Silva apart from the fact that he’s an incredibly good footballer. Well-rounded, hugely creative and surprisingly robust for someone so diminutive.

A fixture in both the Manchester City and Portugal midfield, I’m not quite sure Silva gets the plaudits he deserves. Far from underrated (i’m yet to encounter a football fan who doesn’t rate him), it still feels that he sometimes goes a little under the radar, especially for Portugal.

What shouldn’t go under the radar here is a superb set of numbers. In qualifying, Silva scored three goals and registered four assists, averaging no less than 0.94 goals and assists per 90 minutes. Given that they don’t exactly face top opposition here, that stat alone makes odds of 6/4 look a little generous.

Vladimir Coufal Over 0.5 Assists

At much bigger odds, West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal looks a good bet to register an assist in this game.

At the end of the day, 14/1 doesn’t quite give the marauding full back the respect he deserves.

Coufal is well known to Premier League fans, especially those of the West Ham persuasion, and he’s known as a player more than capable of bombing forward and delivering enticing crosses into the box.

He registered seven assists in the league for the Hammers last season, setting up a goal a little more regularly than once in every five games. 14/1? Really? Assist or not in this game, that’s too big.

Five assists in his last 14 appearances for his nation also help to make odds of 14/1 with bet365 look well worth taking advantage of here.

Recap - Portugal vs Czech Republic betting tips

In summary, here are the two recommended bets ahead of this game:

Bernardo Silva to Score Or Assist @ 6/4 with bet365

Vladimir Coufal to Score Or Assist @ 14/1 with bet365
