Thursday at Euro 2024 kicks off with Group C action as Slovenia and Serbia go head-to-head. Having come from behind to take a point against the Danes, the Slovenians will be looking for a win that would put them in a strong position.

In contrast, Serbia came unstuck against England during the first round of group games and now, at the very least, need to avoid defeat to stand any chance of qualifying from the groups. Read on for our Slovenia vs Serbia predictions.

Slovenia vs Serbia prediction

For the Slovenia vs Serbia match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 2-2 draw based on our analysis.

Both teams showed that they’ve got final-third quality, even if the Serbs failed to score against England, while they have a habit of scoring goals against each other, so we could see a decent game here, one that may just be evenly matched.

Our Slovenia vs Serbia predictions are as follows, with analysis provided later in the article:

Slovenia vs Serbia head-to-head statistics

This will be the fifth renewal of this fixture, with the pair having each won one of the last four. Back in 2022, sharing a UEFA Nations League group, Serbia won 4-1 in Belgrade, before the pair drew 2-2 in Ljubljana.

Slovenia vs Serbia preview

This match is due to take place on 20/06/2024 at Allianz Arena in Munich. Kick off will be at 14:00 GMT.

Despite being not overly fancied in the betting ahead of that Group C opener against Denmark, the Slovenians held their own.

To be honest, I thought the men in white were a little unlucky. They looked to get forward wherever possible, with strikers Sporar and Sesko both looking lively, the latter coming close from range not just in the first half, but when clattering the post with a beautiful strike in the second too.

For my money, they were complete value for the equaliser which arrived on 77 minutes when Erik Janza’s deflected shot crashed past a helpless Kasper Schmeichel.

Off the back of that performance, the Slovenians should fancy themselves to make headway against Serbia, absolutely.

For the Serbs, well, it was a little bit of an underwhelming evening, and I probably wouldn’t be wrong in assuming that they re-entered the dressing room at full-time feeling slightly regretful for not showing more in the final third against an England side that were far from brilliant.

However, Dragan Stojković’s men likely won’t be too disappointed, as they threatened at times and really didn’t come under much intense pressure against a team considered by the bookies as one of the likely tournament winners.

Slovenia vs Serbia Betting tips

At the odds available (at the time of writing) I’m keen on two bets ahead of Thursday’s opening fixture.

Over 3.0 Asian Goals

I can see a glut of goals being scored in this game as both teams mark this fixture as an opportunity to get their tournament up and running.

Much more importantly, for me a high-scoring game, looks a little more likely than the early odds suggest, especially with both teams having shared no shortage of goals not once but twice in recent times.

The Slovenians looked happy to get forward against the Danes, which is positive, and they certainly looked dangerous. Again, positive.

At the back, though the man between the sticks is one of the best in the business, they looked quite open, so a Serbia team containing two powerful and experienced goal-getters in Mitrovic and Vlahovic could very easily do plenty of damage.

After all, the pair shared four goals and five goals when meeting twice back in 2022, and at early odds of 7/4, I’m betting we’ll see something similar here.

Benjamin Sesko to Score

I identified Benjamin Sesko as a value bet to score ahead of Slovenia’s game against Denmark and I’m absolutely of the same opinion here.

OK, he didn’t score in that Group B opener, but he certainly showed himself to be a live wire and a threat, coming close on two occasions, so much so that he once again looks a little generously priced to score at odds of 3/1 with bet365.

I’ll say it for a second time ahead of a Slovenia game at Euro 2024, this is a player who plays his club football on German soil who is coming off the back of season where he scored 0.83 goals per 90 minutes for RB Leipzig.

Throw in a national team average of 0.60 goals per game during qualifying and I think odds of 3/1 should definitely be taken.

Recap - Slovenia vs Serbia betting tips

In summary, here are the recommended bets ahead of this Euro 2024 fixture:

Over 3.0 Asian Goals @ 7/4 with bet365

Benjamin Sesko to Score @ 3/1 with bet365
