The top two in Group A will clash in Frankfurt on Sunday night, where both will likely be happy to settle for a draw, which would ultimately see them progress in first and second positions. Read on for our Switzerland vs Germany predictions.
Switzerland vs Germany prediction
For the Switzerland vs Germany match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 1-1 draw based on our analysis.
Of course, the Germans could quite easily round off their group campaign with a third win, but we’ve seen clear evidence (and not just at this tournament) of tactical play in terms of not overdoing it, while a draw suits both teams here.

Switzerland vs Germany head-to-head statistics
The pair have not met since playing out a fabulously entertaining 3-3 draw in the UEFA Nations League back in 2020. That was the second draw in quick succession between Switzerland and Germany.
Since first clashing in 1928, these two have faced each other on 12 occasions, six of which have gone the way of the Germans, with the Swiss recording two wins. Interestingly, though, the Swiss are now unbeaten in their last three games against the Euro 2024 tournament hosts.
Switzerland vs Germany preview
This match is due to be played on 23/06/2024 at Deutsche Bank Park (Frankfurt). Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.
Having delivered a relatively well-rounded performance against Hungary on match-day one, showing plenty in the final third, scoring some well-executed goals, the Swiss didn't quite reach the same heights against Scotland, but they once again looked like a side that is far from easy to beat.
Murat Yakin's men have got quality in all areas, aren't the easiest to score against, while they have the odd offensive player capable of something quite brilliant, which is just what we saw from major tournament specialist Xherdan Shaqiri, who scored yet another wonderful goal on international football's biggest stage.
Going up against Germany is an easy task for no team, and the Swiss may not have the beating of the tournament hosts, but after their first two efforts, they will absolutely fancy themselves to make life tough for Julian Nagelsmann's men.
As for the Germans, well, as we all expected, they've sailed through to the knockouts with a game to spare, while they need just a single point from this game to make it through as rather easy group winners.
Have we learned much about the hosts over the first two games? Not really. We knew they'd be too strong for Scotland and they were, while we knew that they'd have more than enough in the tank to see off the Hungarians without really needing to dip into any real reserves.
Beating the Swiss would mean that the Germans must dig a little deeper, but they don't really need to win, so we may not yet see the four-time World Cup winners at their best, but don't be fooled, there's lots more to come from a team that continues to be favourites to lift the trophy as far as I'm concerned.
Switzerland vs Germany Betting tips
Boring as it may be, I’m siding with both the draw and a lack of goals in the betting ahead of this game.
Draw
I know, I know, nobody wants to watch Switzerland and Germany play out a half-hearted draw, and I put myself very much in that category too.
The thing is, though, a draw would suit both down to the ground, so for my money, the draw is ever so slightly overpriced in the early betting.
Such is the progression of football, plotting the most tactical course seems to be the preferred way of all, so expending more than necessary in this game seems like a route that neither the Swiss nor Die Mannschaft will be keen to take.
If you’d offered Murat Yakin’s men second place in this group before the festivities started, I’m sure they would’ve taken it with haste.
Second place is exactly what they’ll get with a draw here, while the Germans will top the group if the spoils are shared.
The Germans haven’t really got out of second gear yet. They’ve not needed to, and we saw against the Hungarians on match-day two that they’re quite happy to get the job done in low-key fashion in an attempt to save themselves for the latter stages, which despite being a bit boring for the neutral spectator, isn’t the worst plan.
Ultimately, there’s plenty to suggest that both will likely be happy with containing the other as opposed to really going for it, so the draw makes plenty of appeal all the time 11/4 is available.
Under 2.5 Goals
Much the same can be said for ‘Under 2.5 Goals’, which I'm almost certain will be priced at less than even-money when this game kicks off, so getting in early is a good move in my book.
As touched on above, there really is no reason for either team to go all out here, so this could be another game where clear-cut chances are at a premium. It was a little bit like that when the Germans beat Hungary 2-0 and there’s now even more reason for things to be a little subdued.
Both Switzerland and Germany’s second games contained less than three goals, while the way this tie is set up simply lends itself to a low-scoring encounter more than the early prices suggest.
