Early on Wednesday evening, there’s a huge game in Group E, where everything remains all to play for Slovakia and Romania, both of whom have a realistic chance of not only going through but going through as group winners. Read on for our Slovakia vs Romania predictions.
Slovakia vs Romania prediction
For the Slovakia vs Romania match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 2-2 draw based on our analysis.
Both teams showed a lack of defensive strength on match-day two, which means that both are likely to fancy their chances and go for it. Strap in for an enjoyable watch.

Slovakia vs Romania head-to-head statistics
This will be the eighth renewal of this fixture. Of the previous seven, Romania have won three, while the Slovaks are yet to pick up a win against the Romanians. They’ve not met since 2013, when the pair drew 1-1 in Bucharest.
Slovakia vs Romania preview
This match will take place on 26/06/2024 at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt. Kick off will be at 17:00 GMT.
The Slovaks shocked almost everyone by beating Belgium during the first round of matches in Germany, which left them to enter their match against an underperforming Ukraine team feeling confident.
That confidence shone through as the Slovaks made a very positive start on match-day two, taking the lead after just 17 minutes, when Lukas Haraslin teed up Ivan Schranz at the back post, the Slavia Prague forward nodding home for his second goal at Euro 2024.
Unfortunately, though, they couldn’t continue in the same manner, spurning a few other promising first-half attacks, before essentially taking a more back-foot approach in the second half, which turned out to be costly when the Ukrainians scored twice to spin the game on its head.
If you’d offered the Slovaks three points after two matches before things kicked off in Germany, they probably would’ve taken it, but they’ll now likely be disappointed not to be entering match-day three without four points at least.
For the Romanians, after their excellent win against Ukraine on match-day one, it was always going to be tough facing a fired-up Belgian side, and that task ultimately proved to be too much for the men in yellow.
Like the Slovaks, they too will have rued missed chances, but all in all, they gave up too much against a rampant Red Devils side that really should’ve scored more.
After that tough task, this game against Slovakia is much more manageable, so it will be interesting to see how Edward Iordănescu’s men fare.
Slovakia vs Romania Betting tips
I like the look of two plays at the early odds, both of which focus on the Romanians:
Romania to Score Over 1.5 Goals
At odds of 11/4 with bet365, I very much like the look of ‘Romania to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ here. The men in yellow have shown a refreshing willingness to play progressive and attacking football in Germany.
Sure, their rather open approach did prove to be costly against Belgium, but it also helped them to run riot against the Ukrainians, while it’s not as if they didn’t create a couple of very promising openings against the Belgians.
A similar approach against lesser opposition could very easily yield more positive results, and at odds of 11/4, I’m willing to bet that’s exactly what happens.
Dennis Man to Score
One of Romania’s brightest sparks in Germany (and there have been a few) has undoubtedly been Dennis Man, who played a leading role in that match-day one victory, providing two assists.
Last time out against the Belgians, Man was probably Romania’s best player as he regularly got the ball and drove forward.
The 25-year-old hasn’t scored at this tournament so far, but he’s not done yet, and after looking very hungry in both games, I think it would be foolish to write him off here.
Moreover, at odds of 4/1 he looks like an attractive goalscorer bet. After all, Man has taken four shots in two games in Germany so far, three of which hit the target, while he’s also a player who averaged 0.42 goals (and 0.42 xG) per 90 minutes in Parma’s title-winning Serie B campaign last season.
