The second round of matches on Wednesday evening sees the Czech Republic take on Turkey. Right now, both teams have a chance to qualify, but will they both make it through once this one is done and dusted? Read on for our Czech Republic vs Turkey predictions.

Czech Republic vs Turkey predictions

For the Czech Republic vs Turkey match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 2-2 draw based on our analysis.

The Czech’s should relish playing against a Turkey side that looked quite open and easy to get at against Portugal last time out, but they too have lacked defensive strength, which could very easily lead to them failing to secure the win that they need.

Our predictions for this Group F decider between Czech Republic and Turkey are as follows:

Czech Republic vs Turkey head-to-head statistics

The pair last met back in 2022, in a friendly match, which was won by Turkey (2-1). Back in 2016, the pair met in this competition, with Turkey winning by two goals to nil.

Since 1994, there’s been 11 renewals of this fixture, with the Turks winning five and the Czech’s winning five too.

Czech Republic vs Turkey preview

This match will take place on 26/06/2024 at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.

They came oh so close to getting a positive result on match-day one, leading against Portugal with little over 20 minutes left on the clock, while the Czech’s were level heading into additional time.

Of course, we all know that Ivan Hašek’s men were dealt a hammer blow at the end of their opening fixture, meaning that they really needed to beat the Georgians on match-day two, which sadly, they did not.

Not only did they not win, coming from behind to secure a draw thanks to Patrick Schick’s back-post tap-in, but they very nearly lost, when the Georgians broke (three vs one) in the dying moments of the game, only to waste what was a huge opportunity.

That missed chance from Saba Lobjanidze could ultimately be what sends the Czech’s into the knockouts, though they’ll likely need to win here.

After match-day one, the Turks were flying high, but after a 3-0 defeat to Portugal, things didn't look quite as rosy for Vincenzo Montella’s men.

They failed to put up a fight against the Portuguese, showing a lack of resistance at the back, not to mention a lack of end-product.

However, that defeat against Portugal may almost have been by design. Montella rested a couple of key offensive players, such as the very exciting and highly talented Arda Guler, who came on late in the piece on match-day two having scored that cracker during the first round of games.

The Turks will have known that their qualification to the knockouts was never going to hinge on their ability to beat Portugal, so with Guler (and the lively Kenan Yildiz of Juventus) likely to come back in here, don’t be surprised to see a better effort, especially offensively.

Czech Republic vs Turkey Betting tips

Ahead of this all-important Group F decider, I’ve settled on three bets, all of which are of the player variety:

Tomas Soucek Over 0.5 Shots on Target

Czech captain Tomas Soucek is yet to register a shot on target at Euro 2024, but it probably won’t be long before the big man, who is certainly partial to popping up with a goal, tests an opposing keeper.

View post on Twitter

To be honest, given that Soucek is far from an irregular shooter for his nation, odds of 6/4 look ever so slightly on the large side here.

Soucek averaged 2.25 shots per game during the qualifiers, shooting on target at an average of 0.62 times per game. Now, that average isn’t huge, but it does point towards him testing the opposing keeper a little more than every other game. To me, 6/4 is thus a price worth taking.

Arda Guler to Score Or Assist

Another bet that I like the look of here is the aforementioned Arda Guler to make a big contribution by scoring or assisting.

At the tender age of just 19, Guler is clearly a big player for Turkey and he’s arguably their most threatening attacker. The scorer of six goals in just ten appearances for Real Madrid last season, this is a winger/forward with a huge future.

We saw how dangerous Guler can be when he got forward with menace against Georgia in the first game, scoring with a superb strike from range in the second half of that game.

This is also a player who averaged a chunky 0.70 goals and assists per game for Fenerbahce before signing for the Spanish giants, while in a Turkey shirt in 2024, Guler averages 0.50 goals and assists per game. Take odds of 13/8 while they’re available.

Adam Hlozek to Score

Finally, I’ve got to play Hlozek as a scorer here. The Leverkusen forward looked very lively in that first half against Georgia, threatening on several occasions, unluckily having a goal disallowed for a brush of the hand that he knew little about and that ultimately changed nothing.

Frankly, I was surprised that he was taken off early in the second half. Moreover, with Patrick Schick likely to miss out through injury, Hlozek is going to play a big role here.

The Turks have shown that they don’t have the securest defence, conceding a goal and several other chances against the Georgians, which should fill the Czech forward with lots of hope here.

Let’s face it, this is a man who can cause defences lots of problems. For Leverkusen last season, he averaged an eye-catching 0.60 xG per 90 minutes, scoring an average of 0.39, shooting 3.58 times per game.

For me, he’s too big to ignore at odds of 11/4, and with such a price available, I’m betting that he bags his first goal of the tournament here.
