Having performed with credit during the group stages, the Romanians have booked themselves a knockout showdown with the dangerous Dutch. Can they upset the men in orange? Read on for our Romania vs Netherlands predictions.

Romania vs Netherlands prediction

For the Romania vs Netherlands match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 3-2 win for the Netherlands based on our analysis.

Both teams have shown that they’ve got plenty to offer going forward whilst at the same time struggling to keep things tight at the back, so don’t be surprised if this is a high-scorer, though if there’s one team with that bit of star quality here, then it’s the Dutch, which could eventually be telling.

See below for our Romania vs Netherlands predictions:

Romania vs Netherlands betting odds

According to the early betting, the Romanians have a 12.5% chance of winning this game, while the Dutch have a much larger win probability, standing at 69.2%.

Romania vs Netherlands head-to-head statistics

Since first meeting back in 1924, these two nations have crossed paths on a football pitch ten times. Of those ten games, the Netherlands have won eight, with Romania winning just one.

When the pair last met back in 2017, the Netherlands won by three goals to nil in Bucharest.

Romania vs Netherlands preview

This match will take place on 02/07/2024 at Allianz Arena (Munich). Kick off will be at 17:00 GMT.

There was plenty to like about the way the Romanians went about their business during the group stages, that’s for sure, so much so that they really cannot be totally discounted ahead of this knockout game, despite being up against opposition of greater tournament pedigree.

On match-day one, the men in yellow trampled over their Ukrainian opponents in emphatic fashion, countering with pace and purpose, a tactic that could come in handy against the Dutch.

Sure, they didn’t quite match the Belgians on match-day two, but they still enjoyed several moments of promise in that game, moments that point towards potential offensive success here.

With the likes of Dennis Man, Nicolae Stanciu and Dennis Dragus, the Romanians have got plenty of offensive quality. The question is can they defend well enough? Probably not, but they’re not out of this on that basis alone.

You could say something similar about the Dutch, who looked threatening going forward at this tournament, and they too have lots of offensive quality, with the likes of Xavi Simons and Cody Gakpo looking very dangerous.

However, this is a team that despite having a leader and stopper of Virgil van Dijk’s quality in the heart of defence, is quite shaky. Put it this way, they can certainly be got at, as the Austrian proved by scoring not once, not twice, but thrice in that final Group D game.

In a way, though, losing to Austria may just be a blessing in disguise. After all, that result has allowed the Dutch to be on what must be described as the less demanding side of the draw, so there could very easily be lots more to come from the men in orange.

Romania vs Netherlands Betting tips

Ahead of what should be an entertaining game, I’ve settled on three bets, two of which focus on goals being scored.

Both Teams to Score

At odds of 5/4 with bet365, ‘Both Teams to Score’ looks quite generously priced if you ask me.

Sure, the Romanians failed to score against the Belgians, which is something that will likely be factored into the price here, but they created plenty in that game, while we know that they play an open game, which typically lends itself to goals at both ends.

We know that the Dutch have offensive quality, they’ve proved that already, but they’ve created far from an impressive defensive impression, conceding both goals and chances against the Poles and the Austrians, so I’d say they have a lesser chance of keeping a clean sheet here than the early odds would have us believe.

Both teams found the net in two out of three for the Netherlands during the groups and at 5/4, I’m betting that it’ll be three out of four after this one.

Dennis Man Over 0.5 Shots on Target

Another player who I’ve sided with numerous times at this tournament is Dennis Man, who from his relatively free-roaming position off the left, has impressed in Germany.

As was the case ahead of Romania’s game against Belgium, where he did indeed register a shot on target, Man looks generously priced to test the Dutch keeper at least once.

The winger has shown absolutely no problem coming inside and firing shots off at Euro 2024, shooting 2.05 times per 90 minutes, registering an average of 1.53 shots on target.

Dennis Man to Score

At 7/1, Man is also worth betting on to score. He’s been right up there with Romania’s most dangerous players and for a player who has looked as hungry as him to grab a goal at this tournament, odds of 7/1 look too big.

Scorer of 11 goals for Parma last season, Man is no stranger to going for goal for his nation, as touched on above. He’s been looking to shoot with regularity at this tournament, which is a big plus, while he’s got into some fine positions too.

A big threat on the break, which bodes well given that the Dutch certainly won’t sit back here, the 25-year-old is unlikely to be without a few chances here, and with 7/1 available, I’m betting that he takes one.

Recap - Romania vs Netherlands betting tips

In summary, here are three recommended bets ahead of Romania vs Netherlands:

Both Teams to Score @ 5/4 with bet365

Dennis Man Over 0.5 Shots on Target @ 7/4 with bet365

Dennis Man to Score @ 7/1 with bet365
