It’s the first Saturday of the new Premier League season and there are several games to look forward to, though one of the most eye-catching fixtures from a betting point of view sees Nottingham Forest take on Bournemouth.
The Cherries will be hoping for a repeat of that win at the City Ground last season, but can they get it? Read on for our Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth predictions.

Both teams will likely fancy their chances of making a positive start to the campaign here, and why not? There’s little reason why either shouldn’t see this as a winnable game, but don’t be too surprised if there’s little between the pair, as was the case last term.

Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth preview
This match will be played on 17/08/2024 at City Ground. Kick off will be at 15:00 GMT.
Having stayed in the division two seasons on the bounce, Forest will be looking to push forward this time around, and to be honest, it’s not too difficult to see them making slight progress.
The Tricky Trees found some stability after Nuno Espirito Santo took over from Steve Cooper during the previous campaign, playing some promising attacking football.
It is very much their ability to deliver in the final third that kept them up last season, and it’s that offensive quality that could help them to move towards an even safer finish this time around.
In Callum Hudson-Odoi, Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White, the Portuguese manager has at his disposal some serious creativity, while if powerhouse forward Taiwo Iwoniyi can stay fit, Forest should have little issue scoring goals.
We’ll see if they can come up with answers at the back, but if they can find a few, then there’s no reason why they can’t compete this term.
After a very promising first campaign under Spaniard Andoni Iraola, who despite being criticised early on, masterminded a very respectable finish of 12th.
Like Forest, the Cherries offered plenty in the final third last term, with the likes of Marcus Tavernier, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo all shining bright, while Dominic Solanke turned out to be a goal-getter of high order.
Unfortunately, Solanke has gone, while there’s speculation around Kluivert’s future on the south coast too, so the task will now be to build on what was an excellent season without important pieces of the puzzle. Let’s see what happens.
Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth Betting tips
Much as I’ve done for Friday night’s Premier League curtain raiser between Man United and Fulham, I’m going down the player-bet route here, focusing on two options that really do leap off the page at the available odds.
Elliot Anderson to be Booked
Having been in and out of the Newcastle team last season, showing glimpses of serious promise, Elliot Anderson joins Forest in search of more game time and he looks likely to get it.
The combative and powerful yet also forward-thinking midfielder will add plenty of intensity to the Forest team, that’s for sure.
His hard-working nature will likely prove valuable, but it is his eagerness that could also get him in trouble, as we saw at times last season.
Despite only playing 11.4 90’s for the Magpies last term, Andersen picked up three yellow cards, averaging 0.26 yellows per 90 minutes. In addition, the 21-year-old averaged 1.84 fouls per 90 minutes.
Andersen has all the qualities necessary to play a big role for Forest this season, so don’t be surprised if he starts the season opener.
If he does feature from the outset, I really won’t be surprised if he gets cautioned, while his numbers from last season simply make odds of 15/2 look generous. I’m snapping up such a price.
Anthony Elanga to Score
I’m also going to side with Anthony Elanga to start the campaign with a goal. The winger/forward was a real threat for Forest last season and with that first full campaign at this level under his belt, he can go on to bigger and better things this time around.
Five goals and nine assists last time around shows that Elanga really did cause problems for opposition defences.
He’ll absolutely be one of Forest’s key creators again this term, but with his ability to run in behind, he stands out as a goal threat against a Bournemouth side that will leave space as they push forward.
Last season’s averages of 0.24 xG per 90 minutes and 2.00 shots per 90 minutes make odds of 15/4 look very takable indeed.
