The second Saturday of the Premier League season kicks off with Brighton vs Man United, which is the early kick-off, coming to us from Amex Stadium.
Both teams will be looking to kick on having made winning starts last weekend, but can either team get the desired result? Read on for our Brighton vs Man United predictions.
Brighton vs Man United prediction
For the Brighton vs Man United match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 2-1 win for Brighton based on our analysis.
The Seagulls made a typically astute start to the season last weekend, showing more than enough in the final third to suggest that they can make life really tough for a United team whose win certainly had an element of luck attached.

Brighton vs Man United head-to-head statistics
Saturday’s hosts have won two of the last three renewals of this fixture, though it was United who came out on top when the pair last met (May 2024). The Seagulls have also won two of their last three home games (in the Premier League) against Manchester United.
Brighton vs Man United preview
This match will be played on 24/08/2024 at Amex Stadium. Kick off will be at 12:30 GMT.
Saturday’s Premier League action kicks off on the south coast, where the Seagulls will be looking to continue flying high after that pleasing win at Goodison Park last weekend.
Under new manager Fabian Hürzeler, the Brighton boys made light work of brushing aside a weak Everton team, playing some pleasing football, scoring a few well-worked goals. Such an effort suggests that they’ll enjoy themselves at home on Saturday.
For Manchester United, the season has also started well. Tasked with opening the show last Friday evening, the Red Devils beat Fulham, though their win was anything but clear-cut, while you’d have to say that Erik ten Hag’s men certainly rode their luck.
After what was a relatively even game, with goals proving elusive, United struck late in the day, securing all three points thanks to an 87th-minute strike from summer signing Joshua Zirkzee.
That opening-day win will have definitely boosted the confidence levels of the Red Devils, but could it also, and not for the first time, lull them into a false sense of security? Time will soon tell.
Brighton vs Man United Betting tips
I’m throwing three darts at Saturday’s early kick-off. Here goes:
Brighton to Win
The first port of call betting wise on Saturday will be to back the hosts of the lunch-time kick-off to come out on top.
As the table above suggests, there’s a smidgen of value while 6/4 is lurking around. After a hugely encouraging performance on match-day one, against a United side that didn’t play too well when narrowly beating Fulham, Hürzeler’s men can get the job done.
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils have actually tightened up at the back, while we know how strong the Seagulls can be offensively, especially at home.
For my money, unless United can go and tough it out, which seems unlikely, the home team look a sound bet to outscore their visitors.
Georgino Rutter Over 0.5 Shots on Target
Signed from Leeds after a very strong campaign in the Championship last term, Georgino Rutter looks ready for this step up to the Premier League and it’s hardly surprising that a club like Brighton have made this move.
We don’t know if the French player will slot straight into the Seagulls’ starting XI, but if he does feature, he can make his presence felt, definitely.
I’m happy to take odds of even-money on the forward registering a shot on target too. After all, he shot 2.94 times per 90 minutes on average for Leeds last season, registering an eye-catching 0.89 shots on target (per 90).
Georgino Rutter Over 0.5 Assists
I know that Rutter may not start this game, but I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t feature at some point, so I must have a slice of 11/2 for him to register an assist.
The Frenchman was the top provider in the Championship last season, registering a quite staggering 16 assists.
This is of course a step up, but Rutter is good enough to cope with, at least I think so. He offered plenty in the Bundesliga before moving to Leeds and as a youngster too, so don’t be surprised if he quickly becomes an important player for Brighton, who don’t often get it wrong transfer wise.
Given his average of 0.39 assists per 90 minutes, odds of 11/2 just look too big. I’ll be taking such a price, that’s for sure.
