On Sunday afternoon, Wolves will play their first home game of the new season. Chelsea will be the team to come knocking at Molineux as they head out on the road for the first time.
Can either team bounce back after tasting opening-day defeats? Read on for our Wolves vs Chelsea predictions.
Wolves vs Chelsea prediction
For the Wolves vs Chelsea match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 1-1 draw based on our analysis.
Despite losing at the Emirates last weekend, Wolves were not disgraced, while the Blues didn’t create the best impression against City, so don’t be surprised if the hosts upset the odds a little by getting a positive result.

Wolves vs Chelsea head-to-head statistics
Wolves did the double over Chelsea last season, winning 2-1 at Molineux, before winning by four goals to two at Stamford Bridge a few months later. In fact, Saturday’s hosts have now won each of the last three renewals of this fixture.
Wolves vs Chelsea preview
This match will be played on 24/08/2024 at Molineux. Kick off will be at 15:00 GMT.
It’s easy to look at Wolves’ result last weekend and say that they’ve made a poor start, but we probably shouldn’t be too quick to judge Gary O’Neil’s men negatively. Going to the Emirates for the first game of the campaign was never going to be easy and it’s fair to say that they hung in there.
There were moments of promise, especially on the break, so it’s far from out of the question that they get a more positive result against weaker opposition, especially with a buoyant Molineux crowd behind them.
The Blues were also given something of an uphill task last weekend, so there’s no shame in the fact that they come into this fixture pointless.
However, the men now managed by Enzo Maresca have problems behind the scenes, while to say that they’re settled as a group would be an utter lie. Maresca has work to do to fit all of Chelsea’s rather expensive jigsaw pieces together and it may be some time before we see anything like a team capable of challenging for the top four.
As was the case when they visited Molineux last season, we shouldn’t be surprised if the West London outfit struggle against a much more settled unit.
Wolves vs Chelsea Betting tips
Two bets stand out as being ever so slightly generously priced ahead of this fixture. Let’s get stuck in.
Wolves +1 Handicap
I must be honest, I’m surprised that the hosts are as unfancied as they are in the early betting. Gary O’Neil’s men are far more settled than their opponents, while they performed very well in this fixture not once, but twice last season, picking up maximum points.
We know that the visitors have some very good players to call on, but they looked quite disjointed last weekend, so I really do think it’s foolish to assume that they’ll spin into action and pick up an easy win here.
Frankly, a positive result for the hosts, be that a win or a draw, seems more likely than the early odds suggest, so taking them with a goal headstart (+1 Handicap) makes sense.
Pablo Sarabia Over 0.5 Shots on Target
Several attacking players caught the eye for Wolves last season, with both Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan impressing, but Pablo Sarabia was just as useful for the men from Molineux.
The Spaniard made some very important direct goal contributions, while he regularly tested opposition keepers, often from outside the box.
During the previous campaign, Sarabia scored four goals, shooting no less than 2.27 times per 90 minutes (on average). He also averaged a pleasing 0.83 shots on target, making odds of even-money look quite sizable.
In two matches against Chelsea last season, Sarabia took five shots. This weekend, I’ll be betting on him to register just one on target.
