At early odds of 9/1, there certainly appears to be a chunk of value to be had by betting on the lightly-raced Islanova ahead of 16:14 at Leicester on Tuesday afternoon.
The mount of the ever impressive Ryan Moore, is yet to get her head in front, but she delivered her best effort yet when finishing second at Wolverhampton last time out, enjoying the step up in trip, while there’s evidence to suggest that today’s extra half furlong will suit too.
Raced only once in handicap company, she wasn’t beaten far in a decent little race at Newmarket back in June (over a mile), while her pedigree points towards this sort of race being right up her street, that’s for sure.
What catches the eye is the fact that she’s top of the pile here for career-best speed efforts, courtesy of her rating of soft ground at Haydock back in July. On that basis, she really should relish today’s conditions, and if her first ten-furlong outing on turf does suit, then the filly really could go much closer than early odds of 9/1 suggest.
