Yesterday’s runner didn’t quite cut the mustard, getting going a bit too late in proceedings, before staying on well at the death. There’s a race of that nature in her, for sure, but not to be there.
We move on to Wednesday’s action, which comes our way from Beverley, Yarmouth and Sandown on the flat, while there’s a jumps meeting at Kelso, plus a card in Ireland at Tramore.

16:18 Beverley - Rock Of England to Win
This afternoon, we’re heading to Beverley, where the 16:18 race, a five-furlong dash of the Class 4 variety, catches the eye.
Glory Hyde is to be respected here, but she’s crept up in the weights following her second last time out, while this is a harder race. Mattice is well handicapped, but again this is tougher than the race he failed to perform in last time out.
I like the look of Rock Of England, who has been knocking on the door of late and must have a leading chance here.
The mount of David Nolan enters this race off the back of a solid second (of 16) over course and distance last time out. With conditions the same today, from an unchanged mark, the gelding must be a serious player, perhaps a little more serious than early odds of 11/2 suggest.
For my money, Paul Midgley’s runner ought to be favourite, so there’s definitely some juice left in odds of 11/2.
A repeat of any of his last three efforts would likely see him bang there, while I’d argue that this contest is less demanding than that recent C&D race, which must go down as a positive.
You’d have to consider this horse as being well handicapped too, as he sits 5 lbs below his last winning mark, so it really won’t be a surprise when he does strike again. With plenty seemingly in favour here, it’s worth betting that today’s the day he returns to the winner’s enclosure.
