Two teams that were busy during the week will lock horns at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
While the hosts are looking to continue moving in the right direction following three recent wins, including the Champions League, the visitors, who were dumped out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, are looking to bounce back. Read on for our Aston Villa vs Wolves predictions.
Aston Villa vs Wolves prediction
For the Aston Villa vs Wolves match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 1-1 draw based on our analysis.
Sure, the hosts have thrived in recent weeks, but there was an element of fortune to their win over Everton last weekend, while they’ve also been susceptible to the break, so don’t be surprised if the visitors, who’ve been a little unlucky at times, have a reasonable say here.

Aston Villa vs Wolves head-to-head statistics
When the teams last met, Villa won by two goals to nil at this venue. However, that was their first win against Wolves in five matches, two of which they lost.
Aston Villa vs Wolves preview
This match will be played on 21/09/2024 at Villa Park. Kick off will be at 15:00 GMT.
Around 17:30 last weekend, the picture was looking a little bleak for Villa, who found themselves two goals down against a struggling Everton side. Fast forward an hour and everything was rosy following Jhon Duran’s game-winning thunderbolt.
The Colombian was at it again as the Villa were successful in their first ever UEFA Champions League fixture, beating Swiss side Young Boys by three goals to nil away from home, meaning that they’ll approach this fixture feeling confident.
In contrast, the visitors probably won’t be brimming with confidence after leading Newcastle by a goal to nil at half-time last weekend, only to walk away empty handed.
That rather disappointing Premier League defeat was followed by defeat in the EFL Cup as Gary O’Neil’s men came off second best against Brighton, losing by two goals to one for the second time in four days. They’ll now be looking to bounce back.
Aston Villa vs Wolves Betting tips
In the early betting, there are two bets that appeal most:
Wolves +1 Handicap
The hosts are in flying form right now, make no mistake about that, and it’ll likely be all smiles at Villa Park, where Unai Emery’s men will be expected to make a confident start following that Champions League win on Tuesday night.
However, we shouldn’t overlook the fact that they were a tad fortunate last week. They displayed lots of complacency at the back, looked vulnerable to the break, while they scored two of their three goals courtesy of a big defensive error and world-class hit from range.
For the visitors, sure, there’s not yet a league win in the book, but they were far from outplayed by Newcastle last weekend. You could even say they were unfortunate not to take a point, while
Ultimately, there may just be some value for money on offer here. As the table above suggests, my calculations suggest that there’s a 47.6% chance (just my calculations, which aren’t factual) of either an away win or a draw, whereas the available odds of 7/5 imply that there’s only a 41.7% chance of something other than a home win occurring. That’s a perceived edge of 5.9%. That’ll do for me.
Matheus Cunha to Score
I also like the look of Wolves' forward Matheus Cunha to find the net. The Brazilian has only scored once this season, but he’s looked awfully lively, so don’t be surprised if more goals come soon.
Cunha has taken no less than 13 shots this season, showing a real hunger to go for goal, averaging no less than 4.16 shots per 90 minutes.
Factor in an average of 1.60 shots on target per 90, as well as an average of 0.46 xG and he becomes easy to support at odds of 11/4, especially after Vill looked dodgy at the back last weekend.
