15:05 Fontwell - Propelled to Win
Perhaps not the easiest customer to deal with, Propelled is yet to get off the mark for Nicky Hendersen, but the gelding has what appears to be a nice opportunity to strike today following a promising reappearance run last time out.
After a 73-day mini lay-off, the mount of Nico de Boinville, ran well to finish second over this trip at Stratford, doing his best work late on, suggesting that a race of this nature would certainly be within his grasp before long.
On paper, this is a similar contest, while the seven-year-old will have the luxury of running from the same mark.
It’s positive to report that the winner of that Stratford race ran very well next time out and was seemingly coming with a winning run before falling at the second last, while one of those in behind Propelled has gone on to place in a race not dissimilar to this, franking the form further.
This marathon-type trip clearly is what’s needed, while the lack of rain forecast at Fontwell is a plus too, meaning that the ground should stay on the good side of good-to-soft, which is also what the gelding desires.
Henderson does quite well at Fontwell, operating with a 25% career strike-rate at the venue, while he looks to have found the right sort of opening here.
Top of the pile for speed figures too, Propelled looks to have a favourites’ chance if you ask me. He should be a little shorter than early odds of 9/2, and by taking such odds, we’re getting a slither of value for money.
