Try as they might, the Red Devils couldn’t force a breakthrough against Crystal Palace last weekend, settling for a draw. As they created plenty, but also gave away some rather hefty chances, on another day, that could easily have been a win or a defeat, so Erik ten Hag probably wasn’t too disappointed with a share of the spoils.
In all competitions, the hosts are unbeaten in three, scoring ten goals and conceding none, which sounds great, but this is easily their toughest test since that rather disappointing defeat against Liverpool.
Last week was a tough one for Spurs as they folded rather tamely against rivals Arsenal, before very nearly whimpering out of the EFL Cup, their blushes saved by two late goals, which got them through but didn’t cover up the fact that the performance against lower-level opposition was weak.
Fortunately, last weekend, Ange Postecoglou’s men bounced back with a strong attacking display against Brentford, scoring three goals, creating lots of chances.
It’s worth noting that both teams will be in Europa League action on Thursday night, but with wholesale changes expected to be made by both managers, such continental commitments aren’t expected to have much bearing on this fixture.

Let’s face it, Spurs haven’t exactly set the world alight during the early weeks of the season, so much so that manager Postecoglou has certainly had to bat away criticism.
However, while overall performances haven’t been amazing, with chances often missed, Sunday’s visitors are right up there from a shooting point of view.
So far, only Manchester City have taken more shots in the Premier League this season, while the champions are also the only ones averaging more shots on target per game.
If we consider that Spurs are averaging 6.60 shots on target per game, registering six or more shots on target in each of their two away games, then it’s easy to feel that the odds on offer here are slightly generous.
After all, facing a United side that will give up both space in behind and chances should aid Spurs’ shot-making chances.
Tottenham to Score Over 1.5 Goals
It’s also worth betting on Spurs to find the net a couple of times in this fixture. Sure, the hosts have kept three clean sheets on the spin, but they were very fortunate to leave Selhurst Park without conceding last weekend.
We have seen this United back-line fold rather tamely this season, conceding three goals at home to Liverpool, while they shipped twice away to Brighton as well.
Having sharpened their offensive tools last weekend, Postecoglou’s men, who are no strangers to thriving on the break in games of this nature, will be looking to do some damage here, and at odds 10/11, they’re worth betting on to do just that.
