It was excellent to get back to winning ways when last in action on the horses, with Emporess winning very well at Bath back on Tuesday. Hopefully there’s more where that one came from today.

With four places on offer for each-way bettors ahead of the third race at Redcar on Saturday afternoon, there’s absolutely no way that I’m leaving Skinny Malinka alone.
Edward Bethell’s lightly-raced runner enters this contest off the back of having had just four runs, a couple of which had little promise to them. However, on his penultimate start, the gelding ran on well over a mile at Southwell, hinting that he’d enjoy the step up to today’s trip.
Last time out at Beverley, running over today’s distance of one mile and two furlongs for the first time, he performed well to finish fourth (of 10), doing so in a slightly better race than this. With such an effort under his belt and further improvement far from out of the question, then we could see the three-year-old get heavily involved today.
What I’m really taken by is the fact that Bethell is a trainer who targets these sorts of races at Redcar and he often gets the desired result.
In Redcar handicaps, over this trip, Bethell has an alarmingly high strike rate, that’s for sure, winning or placing with 75% of his runners. That is impossible to ignore, especially with 8/1 on offer.
It’s also worth noting that today will be the first time that this horse is ridden by Connor Beasley, which could be significant. Beasley has become one of Bethell’s go-to riders, with no other jockey delivering a strike rate as strong, which must go down as another positive.
Up there on speed ratings too, this horse simply ticks too many boxes for early odds of 8/1 to be considered anything other than a little generous. If you’re looking for a juicy value bet on Saturday afternoon, then this might just be it.
