There’s more UEFA Nations League action coming our way on Sunday evening. In League B, the Austrians and the Norwegians will clash in Linz.
Both teams will be looking to kick on after high-scoring wins on Thursday, but given that this will be a tougher test for both, will either keep it up? Read on for our Austria vs Norway predictions and tips.

Both teams come into this game off the back of pleasing offensive displays last time out and will likely be looking to continue impressing in that sense, so don’t be surprised if plenty of goals are scored in Linz.

Austria vs Norway head-to-head statistics
This will be the second time that the pair have met during the current Nations League campaign. In September, the Norwegians won by two goals to one in Oslo. In 2020, when the teams faced off in this competition, they drew 1-1 in Austria, after the Austrians won by two goals to one away from home.
Austria vs Norway preview
This match will be played on 13/10/2024 at Raiffeisen Arena. Kick off will be at 19:45 GMT.
It’s a case of so far, so good for the Norwegians as we sit three games into this UEFA Nations League campaign. They’ve won two and drawn one, scoring five goals, conceding just one.
On Thursday night, there was lots to like about the way that Ståle Solbakken’s men got the job done. Even without Martin Odegaard pulling the strings, they looked dangerous in the final third, with both Erling Haaland and Alexander Sorloth running riot against a Slovenia side that had previously been tough to get at. Such a performance bodes well ahead of this trip to the Austrian city of Linz.
For the hosts, the start made has been a slightly more modest one. They’ve won one, drawn one and lost one, losing to the Norwegians when the pair recently met in Oslo. On that occasion, they struggled to guard against the counter, which will have boss Ralf Rangnick a little worried no doubt.
Fortunately, Sunday’s hosts built momentum ahead of this fixture by thumping Kazakhstan on home soil on Thursday, scoring four goals in the process.
Austria vs Norway Betting tips
Two bets appeal ahead of this clash:
Norway to Score Over 1.5 Goals
As mentioned above, the Norwegians looked very dangerous on Thursday night, so much so that odds of 13/8 on them scoring at least twice in this game look a little dangerous.
It’s not just that Sunday’s visitors thrived offensively last time out and it’s not just that they have forwards such as Haaland and Sorloth, both of whom are prolific scorers. What is hard to get away from is the fact that they looked well suited to playing against the Austrians in last month’s reverse fixture.
The hosts won’t just sit back in this game, especially not if they want to improve their standing in the table, and that should mean that the visitors, who aren’t short of pace, get chances on the break. Given their recent form and the odds on offer, I’m betting that they take at least two of those chances.
Stefan Posch to Receive a Card
In addition, at odds of 11/4, I can’t resist a bet on Austrian defender Stefan Posch to go in the book. The Bologna defender has picked up one yellow in his last four club starts, while he’s no stranger to gaining the referee’s attention at international level.
Posch somehow only went into the book once in four matches at Euro 2024, but he was somewhat prolific in terms of stepping outside of the law, making no less than ten fouls.
Prior to this UEFA Nations League campaign, the 27-year-old had been operating with an average of 0.33 cards per 90 minutes in his national team career, while at club level, this is a player with a cards per 90 average of 0.31.
Odds of 11/4 imply a probability of 26.7%, which looking at the numbers above, looks a little generous. By taking such odds, we’ve got a nice little edge over the early market.
