Nottingham Forest vs West Ham head-to-head statistics

When the pair last met, back in February of this year, Nottingham Forest won by two goals to nil in front of a home crowd. Home advantage seems to mean plenty in this fixture, with the team playing at home winning each of the last six renewals.

Nottingham Forest vs West Ham preview

This match will be played on 02/11/2024 at City Ground. Kick off will be at 15:00 GMT.

As we sit nine games into the Premier League season, it’s fair to say that it’s been a very steady start made by Nottingham Forest.

Managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, who took over midway during the previous campaign, the Tricky Trees have become a team that is far from easy to face. They can dig in and scrap, while they also have some fantastically creative and exciting players in the final third, thus they’re far from averse to dealing out helpings of punishment.

The hosts come into this game off the back of encouraging wins against both Crystal Palace and Leicester and will now fancy themselves to hurt a Hammers side that hasn’t exactly been too effective on the road.

For the visitors, well, there was a bounce back last weekend, as they got the better of Manchester United in dramatic fashion, winning thanks to a deftly taken penalty from Jarrod Bowen, who slotted from the spot deep inside injury time.

That win will have boosted the confidence levels, though a quick glance at their recent away record may dampen the spirits of those travelling to City Ground.

Nottingham Forest vs West Ham Betting tips

Two player bets appeal based on the early market.

Ryan Yates to be Booked

First up, I’m siding with Nottingham Forest’s workmanlike captain Ryan Yates to go in the book.

The skipper scored what can only be described as a rare goal as his side secured all three points last weekend, and he’s absolutely a big player for the Tricky Trees, providing no end of industry in midfield.

Yates also provides a fair amount of destruction, playing with a high level of enthusiasm, which means that he’s no stranger to giving away fouls. No Forest player that is currently fit has committed more fouls in the Premier League this season, with the 26-year-old making 1.57 fouls per 90 minutes.

Up against some of the West Ham players who have drawn the most fouls for their team this season, such as Lucas Paqueta, Yates looks a decent bet to pick up a card here at odds of 9/4.

He’s been booked twice this season already, while he’s been lucky to avoid getting his name taken this season, seeing no yellow for three games on the spin, which is not something that he’s often been able to brag about during his career.

Elliot Anderson to be Booked

At much bigger odds, I cannot help but side with Yates’ teammate Elliot Anderson, who also looks a very decent booking bet.

Like Yates, Anderson plays with lots of enthusiasm, scurrying all over the shop, flying into everything, which one the one hand is great, but on the other hand, such an approach also lends itself to ill discipline. So far, he’s made the same number of fouls as Yates, despite playing less.

Booked twice already this season, Anderson currently averages 0.31 cards per 90 minutes, which really does make odds of 5/1 look generous. Such odds imply a probability of 20%. If we take his average cards per 90 to mean that the former Newcastle player has been booked 31% of the time, then it’s not too difficult to say that we’ve got an edge. After all, 31% translates to odds of around 9/4.
