Yesterday’s bet didn’t exactly go smoothly as Stream of Stars ran a modest race (at best) finishing outside of the places at Ascot. We mustn’t grumble as we’ve had no shortage of decent winners at Sporting Post in recent times. Let’s see what Sunday brings.
It’s another relatively quiet Sunday from a horse racing point of view on British shores, with just two National Hunt meetings at Carlisle and Huntingdon for punters to enjoy. Read on for our free horse racing tips.

15:43 Huntingdon - Newtonian to Win
The second to last race at Huntingdon, a Class 5 hurdle over an extended three miles, catches my eye from a betting point of view.
Newtonian, who won over this distance at Warwick back in May, looks to have found a nice opening here. The gelding remains relatively lightly raced and likely has more to give after that victory, especially as he’s only 3 lbs higher in the handicap.
Having been rested over the summer, the seven-year-old reappeared at Ludlow just under two weeks ago, where he delivered a very respectable effort, staying on well to take a not-far-away third over three miles.
That recent effort should have prepared him nicely for this, while it also suggests that this slight step back up in trip should be to his liking. I'd also argue, in terms of strength in depth, that this is a less-demanding contest, which is not to be ignored.
Trainer Matt Shephard has an encouraging record when teaming up with son Stan, who takes the ride again today having done the steering at Ludlow recently.
Considering the promise of that latest effort, I really don’t think that a mark of 82 is the ceiling for this horse, so much so that I’ll be anything but surprised if he wins a Class 5 contest of this nature from a similar mark in the near future.
Given the boxes ticked here, we’re talking about a horse who ought to be a little more strongly supported ahead of a race like this. Put it this way, if he went off as the 9/2 favourite, I wouldn’t disagree. As it stands, he’s available at 13/2, which to my value-seeking eyes, is a price worth taking.
