Newtonian ran a decent race yesterday and certainly wasn’t beaten far, which leaves me thinking that he’s definitely got a race of that nature in him before long. Sadly it wasn’t to be for him yesterday.

17:00 Wolverhampton - Way Of Life to Win
The Wolverhampton race due to commence at 17:00 catches the eye, primarily because the consistent Way Of Life, who is no stranger to going well at this venue, looks a little generously priced in the early betting.
This is a runner who will arrive here off the back of an encouraging effort over course and distance around a fortnight ago. In a race not dissimilar to this, the gelding travelled like the winner until not quite finding enough to get beyond an opponent who i’d argue is better than anything in here.
Sure, he didn’t land the spoils when arguably poised to do so last time out, but that performance tells me that he ought to have a real good go of gaining some compensation here.
His C&D form in general is very hard to knock, even if he has been a little frustrating. The mount of Olivia Tubb, whose 5 lb claim leaves this one looking nicely weighted in a race of this nature, has won or placed in eight of his last nine C&D races. That’s a record that is hard to knock.
Trainer Jonathon Portman also knows how to saddle a winner at Wolverhampton, training more winners at the Midlands venus than any other track in the last year, while his strike rate when putting Olivia Tubb in the plate during that time is also encouraging.
The likely pace of this race ought to suit, with him expected to be able to get a nice pitch in behind likely leader Cardano, who he finished comfortably in front of in that C&D race last time out.
Perhaps also suited that other likely players come here off the back of raised marks having recently won, the stage is absolutely set for Portman’s runner to get the job done. At slightly generous odds of 11/2, I’m betting on him to do just that.
