Today's Free Horse Racing Tips: 14/1 Shot Worthy of Support at Chelmsford

Far from high-grade stuff, the lucky last at Chelmsford this evening is an interesting and rather trappy contest, though at early odds of 14/1, Global Resolve, who goes for training partnership of P Charalambous & J Clutterbuck, may just be a little generously priced.

Now, make no mistake about it, this horse has offered little promise in recent times, and I won’t try to suggest otherwise. However, he has been very leniently handled by the handicapper, who has dropped him another 5 lbs in the weights, leaving him to look potentially well handicapped on the pick of his form.

On his penultimate start, there wasn’t too much wrong with a fifth-placed finish at Southwell, where he raced over a mile. On that evidence, tonight’s trip of one mile and two furlongs looks in favour, while it’s fair to say that this is easily a lesser contest, so an improved effort is far from out of the question, especially in a first-time visor, which could help.

If we look back to his maiden effort at Lingfield over this trip, which came back in July, we can see thatg he finished an encouraging fifth (of 13), beating some horses that have since gone on to rate better than this contest. That form is definitely worthy of consideration if you ask me.

His stable fired in a winner recently, which is no bad thing, while George Wood is a jockey that has been in decent form. I cannot ignore the act that the gelding rates highly in terms of speed ratings either.

Definitely given a chance by the handicapper, this is easily his most realistic assignment yet, so much so that odds of 14/1 are worth taking each-way.
