The festive Premier League action continues on Sunday, when West Ham and Liverpool go head-to-head at London Stadium.
It was a merry Christmas for the Hammers, who spread some festive joy to their fans on Boxing Day, beating Southampton away from home. Can they now make it five games without a win by avoiding defeat against the league leaders? Read on for our West Ham vs Liverpool predictions and tips.

For the West Ham vs Liverpool match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 2-1 win for Liverpool based on our analysis.
The Hammers have tightened up of late, but this is still a big ask for the hosts, who may just lack the punch to get a positive result.

West Ham vs Liverpool head-to-head statistics
This will be the second time that the pair have met this season. Back in September, Liverpool beat the Hammers by five goals to one at Anfield. When they last played in the league, back in April, they drew 2-2 in East London.
West Ham vs Liverpool preview
This match will be played on 29/12/2024 at London Stadium. Kick off will be at 17:15 GMT.
Just a few weeks ago, when West Ham took on Wolves on a Monday evening, Julen Lopetegui’s position as manager looked very uncertain indeed, with many citing that game as a must-win for the Spaniard. The Hammers did win, and since that success, they’ve shifted through the gears.
It’s now four games without defeat for Lopetegui’s men, who’ve won two and drawn two during that time, beating Southampton on Boxing Day, lifting themselves ahead of what is a tough fixture.
For Liverpool, the push for the title continues, and it continues to be the Reds in pole position. Arne Slot’s men ensured that they went into Christmas Day with a four-point lead at the top, a lead that was extended on Boxing Day, with Chelsea losing to Fulham, before Liverpool went and put Leicester to the sword in front of a home crowd.
That win against the Foxes signalled four league wins on the bounce for the Reds, who’ve not tasted defeat in any competition since September. In the league, they’ve failed to win just one of their last eight. Let’s face it, that’s the form of champions.
West Ham vs Liverpool Betting tips
Ahead of the clash at London Stadium on Sunday, two player bets stand out from a value point of view.
Dominik Szoboszlai to Score
At odds of 10/3, Liverpool’s Hungarian midfielder looks a decent bet to score on Sunday. Far from prolific in front of goal for the Reds, Dominik Szoboszlai scored against Tottenham just before Christmas, while it’s probably fair to say that he’s more than good enough offensively to start chipping in with a few more goals.
Certainly not shy to shoot, you could even argue that Szoboszlai has been a little unlucky not to score a few more goals this season. After all, he averages a chunky 0.32 xG per 90 minutes, which makes odds of 10/3 (=23.1% implied probability) look a bit too big for my money.
The 24-year-old was rested to the point where he was only asked to play 15 minutes from the bench on Boxing Day and is thus likely to come back into the starting XI here, and if he does, he’s worth betting on to score all the time that odds of 10/3 are available.
Konstantinos Tsimikas to Get Booked
At 7/2, Konstantinos Tsimikas is well worth betting on to pick up a card. The Greek full-back hasn’t been available as much as both himself and Liverpool would like this season, due to injury, but he’s fit now, and having made a couple of appearances recently, with rotation an important part of the festive schedule, could come back into the starting line-up here.
If he does, he’s a decent bet to get booked. For starters, he’s going to be up against the alternating Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, both of whom draw the most fouls for West Ham, while it’s not as if the Greek player is averse to a booking.
During the 2021-22 campaign, Tsimikas averaged 0.30 bookings per 90 minutes, while during the 2022-23 campaign, he averaged 0.34 cards per 90.
This season, before getting injured, when involved, Tsimikas was making fouls too. He gave away two fouls against Palace on the road, while he made fouls (and picked up a card) against Bologna in the Champions League. Booked twice for Greece since September, he’s never far away from a telling off.
