Brentford vs Arsenal preview
This game will take place on 01/01/2025 at Brentford Community Stadium. Kick off will be at 12:30 EST.
Following what was a disappointing pre-Christmas spell, the Bees livened up a bit last time out, holding Brighton to a tie away from home, keeping a clean sheet in the process, which was pleasing given the rather poor level of defending shown from Thomas Frank’s men this season.
Now back on their own patch, the Bees may just fancy themselves to get a positive result here. After all, they have carried out all of their best work in front of a home crowd this term, so much so that only league leaders Liverpool have a better home record than Brentford, who’ve picked up an impressive 22 points.
For the Gunners, the pre-Christmas period was a pleasing one, while it’s a case of so far, so good post Christmas. Mikel Arteta’s men, who’re desperately trying to push Liverpool in the title race, have dropped points in just one of their last seven Premier League games, so it’s fair to say that they’re flying high right now.
Away from home, though, the Gunners have been a little less imperious, drawing two of their last four on the road, while they’ve only won two of their last seven travelling games in the league. Such stats should fill the hosts with hope.
Brentford vs Arsenal betting tips
Just one player bet appeals ahead of this Premier League fixture:
Bryan Mbeumo Over 0.5 Shots on Target
The Bees have a couple of players in their forward line that can sting, but few can leave their opponents stung quite like Bryan Mbeumo, who after the departure of Ivan Toney has shouldered a lot of the offensive burden this season.
From a shooting point of view, Mbeumo has been Brentford’s most prolific player this term, taking more shots than any other Bees player, while on home soil, he’s tested opposition keepers on a regular basis, so much so that he looks a little generously priced to work David Raya on New Year’s Day.
In his last three home games, Mbeumo has taken no less than nine shots, hitting the target four times, registering at least one shot on target in each of those three games. In fact, the Cameroonian forward/winger has registered six shots on target in his last five games at Brentford Community Stadium, shooting an average of 2.6 times per 90 during that run.
Given his stats, odds of 5/6 are simply too big to ignore. If you’re looking for a value play ahead of the action in West London, then this may just be it.
