Sunday’s Premier League action begins with two games kicking off at 14:00, one of which is the match at Goodison Park, between Everton and Tottenham.

After an underwhelming first effort under the returning David Moyes in the week, the Toffees will be looking to improve, while for the visitors and Ange Postecoglou, improvement is also the order of the day. Read on for our Everton vs Tottenham prediction, tips and preview.

Everton vs Tottenham prediction

For the Everton vs Tottenham match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 1-1 draw based on our analysis.

We know that the Toffees don’t score many goals, but if there was ever a home game when they could improve offensively, then it might just be this one against a Spurs team that continues to be open on the break. The visitors have also shown a lack of final-third quality of late, especially on the road, so don’t be surprised if they fail to muster enough to get the job done here.

Everton vs Tottenham head-to-head statistics

When the teams met earlier in the campaign, Spurs ran riot on home soil, winning by four goals to nil as the Toffees failed to land a glove on the Lilywhites, though the North London boys don’t have an amazing recent record at Goodison Park, where they’ve not won since 2018.

Everton vs Tottenham preview

This match will be played on 19/01/2025 at Goodison Park. Kick off will be at 14:00 GMT.

There was to be no victorious homecoming for David Moyes, who on Wednesday night, took charge of Everton for the first time since returning as Manager, but his return was met with defeat.

As has often been the case this season, it was a narrow defeat at the hands of Aston Villa, with a lack of final-third quality once again being to blame. The mood at Goodison Park is likely to remain positive, and Moyes will surely be afforded a good bit of time to get things right.

Fortunately, this game against a very open Tottenham side offers the hosts a chance to build some much-needed offensive confidence.

The visitors also endured a disappointing midweek, losing away against rivals Arsenal, despite taking the lead during the first half, a lead which they held until the 40th minute.

Not for the first time in recent weeks, though, Spurs were too easy to breach at the back, while their overall attacking was a lacklustre one. If Ange’s men are going to make a real fist of salvaging their season by pushing towards the European places, then they’re going to need to improve defensively, sure, but they also need to become more consistent in the final third.

Everton vs Tottenham betting tips

I’m keen on two player bets, both of which favour the hosts, as these two battle it out at Goodison Park.

Iliman Ndiaye 1+ Shot on Target

At odds of 11/10, Everton’s tricky Iliman Ndiaye, who can certainly excite the crowd, looks a decent bet to register a shot on target in this game.

The winger/forward has been a bit hit and miss this season, there can be no denying that, but he’s a clear threat, especially on the break, while he ought to thrive against what remains a slightly make-shift and out-of-form Spurs rearguard.

After all, it’s not as if Ndiaye has failed to turn up in big games, scoring away against Man City on Boxing Day. Having taken six shots in his last six appearances, I’m betting on him to be up for it against what is clearly a poor defence, and given the odds available, I'm betting that he can work the Spurs keeper.

Ashley Young to Assist 1+ Goal

At much, much bigger odds, I also cannot resist a bet on Ashley Young to pick up an assist.

Of course, Everton don’t score many, there’s no denying that, but this is nothing other than a clear opportunity to improve offensively, and if they do that, Young can very easily be one of the providers.

This season, only one Everton player has made more final third passes than Young, who also rates as the second most prolific Toffees player in terms of key passes (passes leading directly to a shot), while he’s also the second best in terms of progressive passes too.

Moreover, since the start of the campaign, no Everton player has registered more assists than the 39-year-old, who is averaging 0.19 assists per 90 minutes. That’s nearly one in five, making 7/1 look a little large.

It’s also worth noting that in the absence of Dwight McNeil, who continues to be sidelined with a knee injury, Young has been the one to take corners, which given Spurs’ lack of defensive solidity at set pieces this season, only bolsters the veteran’s assist claims here.

All things considered, odds of 7/1 look too big and are absolutely worth taking by anybody searching for value ahead of this game.
