Crystal Palace vs Brentford head-to-head statistics

In recent times, this is not a fixture that has favoured travelling teams. Brentford beat Palace at home earlier in the season, while Palace beat Brentford at Selhurst Park last season. Neither side has ever beaten the other away from home, despite playing each other seven times since first meeting in the Premier League back in 2021.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford preview

This match will be played on date at Selhurst Park. Kick off will be at 14:00 GMT.

Things really are looking up for Crystal Palace following a run of promising results, the latest of which was a two-goal win away from home against strugglers West Ham.

Under the astute stewardship of Oliver Glasner, the Eagles have started to fly a little higher, so much so that they’re now well clear of safety and are on the verge of breaking into the top half. To be honest, if their run continues, a fight for a UEFA Europa Conference League place won’t be out of the question come March/April.

For now, Sunday’s hosts need to keep picking up regular points, much as they have done since losing to Arsenal just before Christmas, winning three and drawing two of their subsequent league games.

It's been quite a mixed season for the Bees, who are in a similar position to Palace, in that they’re closing in on the top half and if they can put together a run, Conference League qualification would not be out of the question.

Unlike Sunday’s hosts, though, they’ve not been overly consistent of late, then again, they haven’t exactly been treated well by the fixture list in January. Three of their last four league games have been against Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool, only one of which they failed to score against.

Having come up short against the league leaders last time out, this is now a more realistic task for Thomas Frank’s men, who’ve already shown that they can beat Palace this season.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford Betting tips

Two bets, both of which favour the visitors, get the nod ahead of Sunday’s game at Selhurst Park.

Brentford to Score Over 1.5 Goals

At first glance, we could be forgiven for thinking that the hosts boast quite a tight defensive unit, and it is true that they come here having kept three clean sheets on the spin, though one of those was against Stockport in the FA Cup, while despite not conceding against Leicester, they didn’t look too sharp, surrendering some quite sizable chances, so don’t be too surprised if a very lively Bees attack stings the hosts here. I definitely won’t be.

To be honest, odds of 13/8 for this bet come across as quite user friendly, that’s for sure. Frank’s men recently scored twice against Man City, while we know how creative and dangerous they can be with the likes of Mbeumo, Damsgaard and Wissa in their ranks.

Moreover, it’s not like the Eagles have been keeping teams quiet all season. Far from it. They recently conceded against a struggling Southampton team, they conceded five at home to Arsenal, conceded against Brighton, while they’ve also conceded twice against the likes of Villa, Wolves, Fulham, Leicester, Everton and West Ham this season. They also shipped twice in the reverse of this fixture.

Yoane Wissa to Score

Moving on, at odds of 11/4, I cannot resist backing Yoane Wissa to find the net, which is something that he’s done all season long, notching 11 Premier League goals.

A scorer when these two met earlier in the campaign, Wissa currently averages 0.67 Premier League goals per 90 minutes, which let’s face it, is impressive.

It’s not as if the DR Congo forward has been overperforming either, as an average of 0.62 expected goals per 90 minutes tells us that he’s essentially scoring as many as his chances suggest he should.

No Brentford player has taken more shots this season, with Wissa showing a real hunger to score regular goals, averaging 2.67 shots, as well 1.28 shots on target, per 90 minutes.

All in all, given his stats and given how deadly he’s been for the Bees this term, at odds of 11/4, he’s a clear value bet to sting this weekend.
