This week’s Premier League feast begins with an early starter on Saturday afternoon, with Nottingham Forest and Brighton going head-to-head at 12:30.

In this lunchtime kick-off, both teams will be looking to rid themselves of the taste of defeat, but can either resume winning ways? We’ll find out at City Ground. Read on for Sporting Post’s Nottingham Forest vs Brighton prediction, tips and preview.

Nottingham Forest vs Brighton prediction

For the Nottingham Forest vs Brighton match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 1-1 draw based on our analysis.

When the pair met earlier in the campaign, they shared four goals and the spoils. Both teams have shown a clear fondness for scoring goals, though both will be focused on tightening up at City Ground on Saturday, while if we scratch beneath the surface, a low-scoring game appears to be a little more likely than the early odds would have us believe.

Nottingham Forest vs Brighton head-to-head statistics

Earlier in the campaign, the pair drew 2-2 at Amex Stadium, where the Tricky Trees found themselves a goal down at the break, despite Chris Wood’s early opener from the spot. A second-half fightback saw them secure a point, thanks to Ramon Sosa’s 70th minute strike.

When the Seagulls visited City Ground last season, they won by three goals to two, thanks in no small part to a Joao Pedro double. Interestingly, each of the last four renewals of this fixture at City Ground has produced at least three goals.

Nottingham Forest vs Brighton preview

This match will be played on 01/03/2025 at City Ground. Kick off will be at GMT.

Having gone on what must be described as an impressive run of results, avoiding defeat in nine straight, winning eight, the Tricky Trees must’ve fancied themselves to get a positive result at Vitality Stadium last week.

Unfortunately, things didn’t exactly go to plan for Nuno Espirito Santo’s high flyers, who not only failed to win, but were beaten in rather devastating fashion, losing by five goals to nil.

Of course, there’s no need to overreact to that result, and it remains a fact that Saturday’s hosts are enjoying a fantastic campaign. They’re also unbeaten in six at home, so there’s no reason for them not to expect better from themselves here.

The Seagulls also struggled to soar last weekend, despite heading into their home game against Everton off the back of three straight wins in all competitions.

Not only did Fabian Hurzeler’s men come unstuck in front of a home crowd, but they failed to find the net, drawing a blank for the second time in three games on their own patch.

Away from home, things have gone well for the Brighton boys in recent times, with Saturday’s visitors winning each of their last three travelling games (in all competitions), avoiding defeat in each of their last six road games.

Nottingham Forest vs Brighton betting tips

Just one bet appeals ahead of this fixture.

Under 2.5 Goals

Far from exciting, I know, but if we do just a little bit of digging here, a low-scoring game really does appear to be more likely than early odds of 21/20 would suggest.

For starters, both teams enter this game off the back of failing to score last time out, while the hosts in particular will be focused on keeping things tight having shipped five goals on the road last time out.

When last in action at home, the hosts scored three and conceded two, which doesn’t exactly scream “low-scorer incoming”, though it’s not as if the goals have constantly flowed at City Ground, with three of Forest’s last four home games containing two or fewer goals.

We’re also talking about a team with one of the best home defensive records in the Premier League this season. Only three top-flight teams have conceded fewer home goals than Forest this term, with Tricky Trees surrendering an average of 0.90 goals per game on home soil.

Only one Premier League team has a lower goals-per-game average than Forest at home too, while both the hosts and the visitors rank comfortably in the top half for shots on target conceded this season, with Brighton conceding the third fewest shots on target in the league.

All in all, there’s plenty to suggest that we could see a relatively low-scoring game at City Ground early on Saturday afternoon, perhaps a bit too much to make odds of 21/20 anything other than a tad user friendly.
