Brentford vs Tottenham head-to-head statistics

This will be the second renewal of this fixture to take place during the 2024/25 Premier League campaign. Earlier in the season, Spurs won by three goals to one in front of a home crowd, with Bryan Mbeumo’s early goal being cancelled out by Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and James Maddison. When the pair last met in West London, they drew 2-2.

Brentford vs Tottenham preview

This match will be played on 02/02/2025 at Gtech Community Arena. Kick off will be at 14:00 GMT.

After coming a little unstuck thanks to a rather tricky run of fixtures, facing Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool in the space of two and a half weeks, the Bees got back to stinging opponents last time out, improving on what has been a poor road showing this season by winning at Selhurst Park last weekend, scoring multiple goals away from home for the first time this term.

In general, it’s been an up and down campaign for Thomas Frank’s men, who have clearly been at their best when playing in front of a home crowd. The less said about their away form (bar last week’s win), the better.

At home, the Bees have beaten most of the teams that they’ve faced, picking up the third most home points in the division, scoring more home goals than any other Premier League team.

Having regained the winning thread in typical all-over-the-shop fashion against Hoffenheim last Thursday, Ange Postecoglou and Spurs went into the last round of EPL fixtures hoping to kick on, but kick on they did not.

It was the same old story for what looked like a tired and completely out-of-sorts Tottenham team as they lost by two goals to one at home to Leicester. We’re talking about a team that is now without a league win in seven games. Their only league win in their last 11 came against a Southampton side that is definitely on the way back down to the Championship.

At the time of writing, Spurs are a few hours away from playing their final UEL league-phase game, which naturally, interrupts their preparations for this game, especially given that they’re working with such a thin squad at present.

Brentford vs Tottenham betting tips

Two player bets stand out ahead of Spurs’ trip across the capital.

Lucas Bergvall to be Booked

Given the available price of 14/5, ‘Lucas Bergvall to be Booked’ is an easy selection. It’s not that Bergvall is guaranteed to get a card, far from it, though given his overall efforts this term, odds of 14/5 simply look too generous.

Full-blooded and often overzealous in the challenge, the young midfielder, despite not playing a great deal of football until recently, has already made a name for himself as something of a repeat offender.

In the league, Bergvall is averaging 0.48 bookings per 90 minutes, while since facing Rangers in the Europa League back in December, he’s picked up six cards in 12 appearances.

Dejan Kulusevski to be Booked

At odds of 10/3, Tottenham’s key man Dejan Kulusevski also looks like a decent bet to go in the book. Not Spurs’ most frequent offender in terms of getting his name taken, Kulusevski is no stranger to making fouls.

In fact, in the league this season, no Tottenham player has made more fouls than the Swede, who averages 1.59 fouls per 90 minutes.

What’s more, away from home is where Kulusevski has been at his most prolific in terms of making fouls, fouling at least twice away against Everton, Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Newcastle. In those six away games, the 24-year-old committed a total of 17 fouls. He was also booked in two of those six travelling fixtures.

Let’s be honest, given the above, odds of 10/3 look anything but a true reflection of Kulusevski’s chances of getting his name taken. There’s value to be had here, absolutely.
