Blackburn vs Wolves head-to-head statistics

It’s been a while since Blackburn and Wolves met, with the last renewal of this fixture coming back in 2017, when the pair drew 0-0 in the Championship. Earlier that same season, they drew 1-1 at Ewood Park. Lots has changed since.

Blackburn vs Wolves preview

This match will be played on 09/02/2025 at Ewood Park. Kick off will be at 12:30 GMT.

For Sunday’s hosts, returning to the Premier League is (and has been for some time) the priority, though picking up a win over top-level opposition in the FA Cup Fourth Round will naturally entice Rovers to have a good go at this game.

In terms of recent form, John Eustace’s men have struggled a little, winning just one of their last five, losing each of the other four, including during the week, when they lost on the road to QPR, coming unstuck thanks to a late winner from the hosts.

Rovers remain inside the Championship’s all-important top six, though, so it’s fair to say that the season is going well overall.

For Wolves, the season has not gone well, which is why Gary O’Neil was relieved of his duties back in December. Since Vitor Pereira took charge, there has been some visible improvement, with the men in orange picking up vital wins against the likes of Leicester, Man United and most recently Aston Villa.

Last weekend, we saw Sunday’s visitors deliver a well-executed game plan to get the better of Aston Villa, and with that win under their belts, they’ll be hungry for more. This game clearly presents Pereira’s men with a sizable chance to pick up back-to-back wins for just the third time this season.

Blackburn vs Wolves betting tips

Siding with the visitors to score at least a couple of goals in this one looks like a smart move given the early odds.

Wolves to Score Over 1.5 Goals

In their own league, the hosts haven’t been defending too smartly of late. They conceded two goals (and other chances) against QPR in the week, while they’ve now conceded multiple goals in three of their last four. Therefore, this is definitely a big opportunity for the Premier League visitors to do some damage offensively.

In general, Wolves haven’t been too offensively strong of late, scoring just one goal in three games before notching twice against Villa last weekend, but they did have a tough run, facing Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal in quick succession, so we can perhaps forgive them for not being so forthcoming in terms of goals.

I quite liked the way in which Pereira’s men asserted themselves against Bristol City in the previous FA Cup round. They scored twice and created plenty, especially early on, and if they take a similar approach here, goals shouldn’;t be too hard to find, and I’m not quite sure this has been considered enough by the early market.

Frankly, the visitors should be available at shorter odds to notch a couple of goals here, and I won’t be surprised if that’s the case as kick-off nears, so get in early.
