The FA Cup action continues late into the day on Saturday, with Brighton and Chelsea due to battle it out in a 20:00 (GMT) kick-off at Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls will be looking to improve following what was a shambolic effort against Nottingham Forest last weekend, while the Blues will be looking for another win. Read on for our Brighton vs Chelsea prediction, tips and preview.

Brighton vs Chelsea prediction

For the Brighton vs Chelsea match prediction, we believe the final score will be a 1-0 win for Chelsea based on our analysis.

After Brighton were embarrassed defensively last weekend and after the Blues have had a few too many high-scorers in recent weeks, both teams may be looking to tighten up, while it’s not as if the hosts have been scoring loads at home, while Chelsea’s offensive efforts have been more subdued on the road.

Brighton vs Chelsea head-to-head statistics

The teams last met in the league back in late September, when Brighton lost by four goals to two at Stamford Bridge. Prior to that, the pair faced off at the Amex back in May, with Chelsea again coming out on top, this time by two goals to one. The Blues have now won each of their last four competitive games against Brighton.

Brighton vs Chelsea preview

This match will be played on 08/02/2025 at Amex Stadium. Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.

It’s been a very up and down season for Brighton under Fabian Hurzeler, who has failed to really inspire any sort of consistency since arriving at Amex Stadium.

As we’ve seen under previous managers, the Seagulls continue to play attractive, attacking football at times, but under Hurzeler they've also developed a rather soft underbelly, meaning that they often look there for the taking. Their weaknesses were very much exposed by Nottingham Forest last weekend, that’s for sure.

The hosts come into this game off the back of consecutive defeats, scoring no goals in those two games. Moreover, they’re without a home win in five.

For the Blues, it’s also been a bit of a mixed bag in recent times, though Enzo Maresca’s men have certainly done a better job of winning with reasonable regularity than Saturday’s hosts have.

Monday night’s win against West Ham was Chelsea’s third in five (in all competitions), while they’ve lost just one of their last six.

Away from home, the picture looks a little less pretty, with not win in four, losing rather tamely to anything but an in-form Man City side in their most recent away game, though this match against an out-of-sorts Brighton team is clearly an opportunity to improve in that sense.

Brighton vs Chelsea betting tips

One bet appeals from a value point of view.

Under 2.5 Goals

Both teams were involved in high-scoring games last time out, which pretty much explains the fact that ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ is priced quite stingily here, though I’d argue that there’s a good bit of recent bias built into that price, leaving the odds for ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ to be a little too generous.

After that drubbing last time out, the Seagulls will be focused on keeping things tight, so we can expect them to be less cavalier than usual, while they’ve not really scored or conceded too many in general at home of late.

The Seagulls have scored more than once in none of their last five at home, scoring just three goals in total during that time, while they’ve only conceded more than once in one of those five, surrendering a total of six goals. More than two goals have been scored in just one of Brighton’s last five at home, producing an average of only 2.00 goals per game.

Similarly, the Blues have scored more than once in none of their four recent away games in the league, conceding six during that time. Only one of those four has contained more than two goals. Chelsea’s last four away games have produced an average of 2.00 goals per game.

All in all, the chances of a relatively low-scoring game seem a little greater than early odds of 7/5 suggest, meaning that there’s a slice value on offer.
