Not only do we have knockout action from the UEFA Champions League this week, but there’s also plenty coming our way from both the Europa League and Conference League too. Thursday’s action gets underway with an early kick-off in the Dutch city of Alkmaar, where visitors Tottenham will be looking to take the lead ahead of the return leg.
Not for the first time this season, these two will meet, and the hosts will be hoping to improve on their single-goal league phase defeat, which unfolded at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in October. Read on for our Alkmaar vs Tottenham betting tips and value bets.

Just one player bet appeals ahead of Thursday’s Europa League action at AFAS Stadium.
James Maddison 1+ Shots on Target
Much as it was for his team in general, it was a tricky evening for James Maddison when Spurs were last in action, losing to Manchester City on home soil without ever really landing a glove on their opponents.
It’s important not to overreact to that effort, though. Prior to that game, the Englishman had looked dangerous, while he’s been very effective in games of this nature this season, especially from a shooting point of view, so much so that he looks a little generously priced to work the home keeper at least once.
Prior to that rather weak effort against City, Maddison found the net against Manchester United, while he was also on target when Spurs last played away from home in this competition, scoring against Hoffenheim. Moreover, he’s shown a generally pleasing appetite for getting shots off, shooting a total of eight times in his last four starts.
The 27-year-old has often stepped up in big away games too, registering shots on target away against the likes of Man United, Man City, Newcastle and Brighton in the league, as well as against Hoffenheim and Ferencvaros away in the Europa League.
Having also tested the keeper when Spurs faced Alkmaar in the league phase of this competition, Maddison looks a decent bet to shoot on target here, at least all the time odds of 4/5 are on offer.

The table below shows the odds available for our value betting tips at the time of writing, as well as what I consider to be fair odds for these selections. It’s important to note that to take value, you should be taking odds that are bigger than the fair odds. If bigger odds are not available, then there’s no value, which means no bet.

---|---|---|---|
James Maddison 1+ Shots on Target | 4/5 | 8/11 | +2.3% |
