Things start to get rather serious in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening, with eight last-16 ties taking place, including Real Sociedad vs Man United and Alkmaar vs Tottenham, both of which feature in our Europa League accumulator.
With eight games to get stuck into, Thursday presents us with the perfect opportunity to see if we can pinpoint another winning accumulator, having already done so on several occasions in the Premier League this season. Here goes.
Accumulator tips for today
All of the games featured in this accumulator are due to take place on 06/03/2025, starting either at 17:45 GMT or 20:00 GMT.
Three appealing bets combine to make up Thursday’s Europa League accumulator, paying over 7/1 with betway.
Alkmaar vs Tottenham - James Maddison Over 0.5 Shots on Target
Having written about this bet already when talking about Alkmaar vs Tottenham value bets, I won’t go on here. I will just say that Maddison has had a great season from a shooting point of view, and he looks primed to play a big role on Thursday.
When the Englishman was last involved in the Europa League away from home, he scored against Hoffenheim, while he’s made a habit of going for goal, and hitting the target, in big away games this season, so don’t be surprised if he tests the Alkmaar keeper at least once on Thursday, which is exactly what he did when the teams met in London during the league phase of this competition.
Real Sociedad vs Man United - Brais Mendez to Score or Assist
Having been chucked out of the FA Cup by a resilient Fulham side at the weekend, the Red Devils have one final chance of picking up silverware this season, and judging by their recent efforts, that chance is a slim one.
In an attempt to salvage what has been a rather torrid campaign, Ruben Amorim’s men travel to Spain on Thursday evening, when they’ll take on a Real Sociedad side that is bidding to carry on the Spanish tradition of doing very, very well in the Europa League.
From a betting point of view, I really like the look of Brais Mendez to play a big role for the hosts by either scoring or assisting.
A key player for Sociedad, Mendez has all the attributes necessary to unlock what is a shaky United defence, while he’s delivered some impressive numbers in the Europa League this season, producing five goals and assists, averaging 0.64 goals and assists per 90 minutes.
Roma vs Athletic Club - Inaki Williams Over 0.5 Shots on Target
Completing the line-up here, I can’t leave out Inaki Williams, who continues to be a vital cog in the Athletic Club machine, and who has performed with real credit in the Europa League this season.
In eight UEL appearances, Williams has scored four goals, helping his team to reach this stage of the competition, and if their previous efforts are anything to go by, the road may not end here.
Interestingly, no player has taken more shots for the Bilbao team in the Europa League this season, with Williams firing off at regular intervals, shooting an average of 2.86 times per 90 minutes. Such a stat isn’t easy to ignore.
What’s more, Williams comes into this game in hot shooting form having registered a shot on target in each of his last four, testing opposition keepers no less than seven times in total during that spell. He’ll be looking to test a fifth keeper on the bounce, and as part of this acca, I’m betting on him to do just that.
Recap - Europa League Accumulator tips for 06/03/2025
There we have it, the following three bets make up this UEFA Europa League accumulator:
James Maddison Over 0.5 Shots on Target
Brais Mendez to Score or Assist
Inaki Williams Over 0.5 Shots on Target
A three-fold accumulator made up of the above selections pays 7.42/1 with betway.
