Southampton vs Wolves value betting tips
This game takes place on 15/03/2025 at St Mary’s Stadium. Kick off will be at 15:00 GMT.
Ahead of what is a big game on the south coast, three betting angles appeal from a value point of view.
Wolves to Score Over 1.5 Goals
Without Matheus Cunha, Wolves’ are weaker in the final third, there’s no denying that, though they did create opportunities against Everton last weekend, while they’re not without dangerous offensive players, so they really ought to be making plenty of headway against a Southampton side that right from the word go this season has struggled massively from a defensive point of view.
When the teams met in the reverse fixture, the Old Gold notched twice, and I really would be surprised if they don’t repeat that here, even without their primary attacker.
The Saints have conceded two or more goals in each of their last four league games, as well as in nine of their last 10. Moreover, each of the last four Premier League teams to visit St. Mary’s Stadium has left having scored three or more goals.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to Score or Assist
I also very much like the look of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to play a big role on Saturday afternoon, especially after he provided an assist last time out.
The winger/forward has had a bit of a stop-start season, but that hasn’t stopped him delivering some pretty good numbers, averaging a rather chunky 0.44 goals and assists per 90 minutes.
At the end of the day, in the absence of Matheus Cunha, Bellegarde is clearly the player that the visitors need to make the difference in the final third. The Frenchman stepped up with a timely assist last week and with that under his belt, he can continue to provide the goods against a weak Southampton team. At odds of 15/8, he’s well worth betting on to do just that by either scoring or assisting.
Kamaldeen Sulemana Over 0.5 Shots on Target
Last but not least, Kamaldeen Sulemana can provide something for the home fans to get excited about. The young forward has been one of very few promising performers for the Saints this season and having recently established himself as a regular starter, he looks a threat.
Direct, quick and willing to go at players, Sulemana looks a handful, while he’s not exactly scared to fire off shots, especially at home, taking eight shots in his last three starts in front of a St Mary’s crowd.
If we discount the top teams, the youngster has also registered a shot on target in each of his last four Premier League starts (against Brighton, Bournemouth, Ipswich and Man United), making odds of 7/5 look quite generous indeed.
Let’s be honest, the visitors remain far from secure at the back, and even against a weak Southampton side, they will concede opportunities, so the lively Sulemana looks worth betting on to fire on target at least once.
