The UEFA Nations League is back on Thursday, when a plethora of fixtures are due to take place across a variety of European venues, including Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, where Greece and Scotland will battle it out for the right to play in League A next time around.
Can the Greeks make the most of Thursday’s home advantage ahead of their trip to Glasgow on Sunday? Or will the Scots return home with a positive result in the bag? Read on for our Greece vs Scotland player betting tips.
Greece vs Scotland player betting tips
This game is due to take place on 20/03/2025 at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus. Kick off will be at 19:45 GMT.
Two player bets appeal from a value point of view ahead of Thursday’s clash in the city of Piraeus.
Christos Tzolis to Score or Assist
High on the list of Greek players looking to do some damage against what has been a weak Scottish backline on the road is Christos Tzolis, who is enjoying a fruitful campaign with Club Brugge in Belgium.
Not only is Tzolis, who after thriving for Fortuna Dusseldorf in Germany last season, traded in Norwich for Club Brugge back in the summer, enjoying a fine domestic campaign, but the forward has thrived for Greece in the UEFA Nations League.
In six Nations League appearances this time around, the 23-year-old has scored two goals and registered one assist, averaging a very eye-catching 0.63 goals and assists per 90 minutes.
What’s more, Tzolis is becoming something of a big-name player, scoring and assisting for Club Brugge against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League playoffs, before assisting against Aston Villa in the Round of 16. Such efforts suggest that he can do the business against a side of Scotland’s quality.
If we take the above and put it together with the fact that the Scots have really struggled to keep things tight on the road in this competition, then Tzolis starts to look a little generously priced to do some damage by either scoring or assisting.
Scott McTominay Over 0.5 Shots on Target
For the visitors, Scott McTominay also appeals, and at odds of 10/11, he looks a little generously priced to work the Greek keeper at least once as the Scots look to make headway ahead of the return leg at Hampden Park.
Reborn as an attacking midfielder in recent times, the long-time Man United man made the move to Serie A at the end of the previous domestic season, joining Napoli, where he’s certainly made a positive impression over the last six months or so.
In a Napoli shirt, in recent times, McTominay has looked hungry for goals, shooting with serious regularity. Last time out against Venezia, he pulled the trigger four times, much as he did before that against Fiorentina. In fact, in six of his last seven Serie A appearances, McTominay has taken multiple shots, registering ten shots on target during that time, working the keeper at least once in six of his last seven too.
The energetic and now forward-thinking midfielder has also been in fine shooting form for Scotland in the Nations League. No player has taken more shots for Scotland during the current campaign than McTominay, who averages a very promising 1.37 shots on target.
In other words, the former United player averages way over one shot on target per game in this competition, and I really don’t think that odds of 10/11 (= 52.4% implied probability) reflect that accurately enough, so there’s value to be had here.

To be clear, to take value, you should be taking odds that are bigger than the fair odds. If bigger odds are not available, then there’s no value, which means no bet.
