PSG vs Aston Villa player betting tips
This game takes place on 09/04/2025 at Parc de Princes. Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.
Ahead of the action at Parc des Princes, two player bets look like they offer a smidgen of value at the early prices.
John McGinn to be Booked
I was on John McGinn to pick up a booking at the weekend. Spoiler alert, he didn’t start. I remain of the opinion that his next card is just around the corner, though, and I’d be anything but surprised if it came in this high-pressure game, so much so that odds of 12/5 look a little on the large side.
The Scotsman has been relatively well behaved in the Champions League this season, but Wednesday’s game is a different kettle of fish, while he approaches this fixture having been making lots of fouls in recent games, fouling four times against Brighton last week.
During the previous round, McGinn made multiple fouls against Club Brugge, and as the Villa skipper will likely be chasing the ball lots more in this game, it’s not overly difficult to see him struggling.
After all, this is a man who made three fouls against Man City and five against Chelsea, so with his team expected to have their backs against the wall, he looks a decent bet to go in the book at 12/5.
Lucas Digne to be Booked
For Lucas Digne, this is a match against an old club. The French full-back spent two seasons as something of a bit-part player for the Parisian giants, before being deemed surplus to requirements and moved on. Will he be looking for revenge Here? And if so, will he overstep the mark in his attempts to get it?
For starters, Lucas Digne is averaging 0.31 cards per 90 minutes in the UEFA Champions League this season, while he’s got into the habit of being booked on big nights in recent times, going into the book against Monaco and RB Leipzig since December, while he was also booked home and away for France against Belgium in the UEFA Nations League.
Operating as a left-sided full back, Digne is also likely to spend large portions of this game on the back foot, defending against the likes of Desire Doue, Achraf Hakimi and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, all of whom are typically drawing lots of fouls for PSG.
As is the case with McGinn, odds of 3/1 just look a little too generous given the magnitude of this fixture and the fact that Villa are expected to spend an awful lots of time chasing the ball.

To be clear, to take value, you should be taking odds that are bigger than the fair odds. If bigger odds are not available, then there’s no value, which means no bet.
