After the UCL, comes the UEFA Europa League, which now contains just eight teams, and let’s face it, we have some big names vying for glory this season. On Thursday evening, there’s an exciting fixture taking place in Glasgow, where Rangers and Athletic Club will clash.

Can the hosts improve what is a dreadful recent home record and build an advantage ahead of what will be a tough trip to the Basque Country? Read on for our Rangers vs Athletic Club player betting tips.

This game takes place on 10/04//2025 at Ibrox. Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.

Ahead of Thursday’s action at what should be a hostile and rocking Ibrox, two player bets appeal.

Inaki Williams to Score

First off, I’m finding it hard to avoid betting on the ever reliable Inaki Williams to find the net for the visitors, especially all the time 14/5 is on offer at Betway. Most firms are quite a bit shorter, and rightly so as far as I’m concerned.

The visiting skipper has proven to be worth his weight in gold on the continent this season, leading by example with his offensive performances, scoring five UEFA Europa League goals. No Athletic Club player has scored more during the current continental campaign.

Per 90 minutes, the now vastly experienced speedster averages 0.58 goals in the UEL this term, which is rather hard to ignore, as is his average of 2.67 shots per 90 minutes. Moreover, as the hosts push to make home advantage pay, Williams will be a clear threat on the break, where he can be devastating.

It also must be said that the older of the two Williams brothers has been very effective when his team play on the counter away from home in Europe this season, with four of his five goals coming on the road. Put this together with all of the above and I can only conclude that odds of 14/5 are well worth taking.

Mikel Jauregizar to Receive a Card

Easily as eye-catching as the bet above, if not more so, is a bet on midfield destroyer Mikel Jauregizar to go into the book at Ibrox. The Spaniard is absolutely no stranger to stepping outside of the rules, making regular fouls this season, especially in this competition, so don’t be surprised if he gets himself in trouble on Thursday.

In all competitions this season, no Athletic Club player has made more fouls than Jauregizar, who averages a quite chunky 2.01 fouls per 90 minutes. In the Europa League, he averages 2.11 fouls per 90 minutes.

Interestingly, during the current campaign, no player has picked up more yellows for the visitors either, with the energetic and eager-to-get-stuck-in 21-year-old going into the book seven times (in all competitions). That’s an average of 0.26 per 90 minutes.

If we take 0.26 and say that, essentially, Jauregizar has been booked 26% of the time this term, then it’s not too ridiculous to argue that odds of 7/2 (= 22.2% implied probability) look generous.

Away from home in Rome during the previous round, Mikel Jauregizar went into the book, and given the price on offer, I’m betting that Glasgow will be the next city where his behaviour isn’t quite good enough.
